Do You Have A Dream?

What is your dream? Yes, that's right, what is it that you would like to accomplish in your lifetime? Many people would like to start a home-based business, but they do not know what they want to accomplish in life. There is an old saying that goes like this - Until you know the why, the how does not matter. What does this mean?

Most people start a home-based business for the money. The challenge is they really don't know why they are in business other than to get rich. Reality check: if this is the only reason you want to start your own business, you may be disappointed.

People need to have a reason for having their own business. They need to know why they are doing it. It is okay to say I want time and money freedom, but what are you going to do with that time freedom? What are you going to do with that money freedom? How would you spend your time? What would you do with the money once you get it? Most new business owners overlook these questions.

The first thing to do is to determine the WHY. A good friend of mine told me that when people develop the desire, nothing gets in their way. However, if they don't develop that desire, everything just seems to get in the way. It's one thing to wish you had a business, but a totally different story to go out and build one. Those that are successful are the ones who find their dream first.

Many times people want to have everything just right prior to taking the first step toward building their business. They are terrified about talking to prospects, or not exactly sure how everything will work in detail. What's truly most important is deciding exactly what you want to accomplish. This gets back to the 'Why' of the business. Write down what it is that you want to achieve and then start taking action. Will you experience failure? Only if you quit! Obstacles? Yes. Challenges? Yes. Problems? Yes. Even so, keep moving forward. Learn from mistakes, get up, and keep going.

Building a business is like a boxing match. The only way to lose is if you don't get up after being knocked down. The reason many people fail in business is that they expect 100% success. When you know why you are in the business, where you are headed, and 'stuff' happens, then you will be farther along the path of success than your competition.

What does it really take to succeed in business? It can be summed up in these words - Knowing Why. You see, when you take time to make sure you know why you are in business, your business will start heading in the right direction. Start working today on why you want to start your business. In fact, I would encourage you to share those reasons with us.
