How Do You Want To Get Paid?
Would you rather get paid on your efforts alone, or on the combined efforts of a group of people? Yes, you heard that right! Would you prefer to get paid for you efforts only or on the total efforts of a group? I don't know about you, but the second option seems to sound better. Sadly, many people today work very hard on their jobs and find that they simply can't get ahead. It seems that only rich people continue to get richer all the time. Why is that?
Could it be that they possess some secret knowledge? Well, one thing they do understand is how to get paid from not only their efforts, but also from the efforts of others. Look at business owners. Why do they hire employees? They know that if they can hire employees for $10 an hour that actually results in $30 per hour revenue that it makes good sense to hire them. For example, if they have hired a staff of 10 employees at $10 per hour, then they will make $200 an hour. Oh, by the way, this is true whether the business owner works or not. So, the ten employees may be happy with their jobs, but the person who provides each job is usually the
one who benefits most. We aren't putting down employers or employees. We are merely demonstrating the mentality of the rich in getting paid for the efforts of others.
Here's another example from a sales company in the insurance industry. Usually, sales agents are hired to sell insurance. These agents report to a regional sales manager who helps train and give them direction in their career building efforts. Many times these sales managers are paid an override for each sale made by those sales agents. For this example we'll use a 10% override. Let's assume that each salesman receives $30,000 a year in commissions. Thus, if the sales manager has 20 agents reporting to him, he will earn $60,000 a year based on the overrides he receives when his agents make sales. Again, he gets these overrides without making any sales himself. Essentially, he gets paid from the combined effort of all of the
agents reporting to him.
Let's return to the original question. Do you want to get paid on your efforts alone, or on the efforts of a group of people? Option two seems to be the best way to go.
