How to Cultivate Your Goals
Twice each day you should cultivate your goals for 5 to 15 minutes.
The word cultivate means: to nurture; to foster and refine.
That's exactly what you should do with your goals everyday.
Why cultivate goals?
All dreams, goals, and desires (the things you want) start out as tiny seeds (thoughts) that need to be cultivated in order to grow. With ENOUGH POWERFUL thought, these seeds will grow into something you feel passionate about and then turn into reality (money, charity, dream homes, cars, children's education.) Without ENOUGH thought, you compromise, your seeds fade into excuses: "Oh, I didn't really want that."
How to stay disciplined and achieve your goals.
The BASE POINT of all failure and non-achievement is lack of discipline, the discipline to do whatever it takes, for as long as it takes to achieve the goal.
EVERYTHING stems from your motivation. What does it take for you to STAY disciplined? That answer is and can only be your "WHY". WHY ARE YOU DOING IT?
When you Cultivate your goals every morning and evening, you keep your WHY in the front of your mind. Eventually, those seeds (thoughts) will grow and grow and take over your thinking. You will feel the urge to study and learn everything you can. The more you learn the better you get. You will become confident in your abilities and your confidence will give you the discipline to do whatever it takes, for as long as it takes to succeed.
It's quite simple. If you wake up everyday and Cultivate your goals, you'll think about your goals most of the day. That's the idea. With your goals in mind, you will take action towards accomplishing them. The more you do that in a given day, the more you create your goals.
KEY POINT: You must first make your goals REAL in your mind before you can create them in the physical universe. Thoughts are not things you can see or touch in the physical... until YOU create them in the physical. Before you can create, you must see what the finished product looks like TO YOU.
In the begining, you do not have to see how you will create your goals because as you Cultivate your goals the how will become clear.
Read this sentence twice before continuing:
I must first make my goals appear and be REAL in my mind before I can make them happen in the physical universe.
Remember, reading your goals everyday will only keep you interested to a point. Your interest will fade unless you do Activities that move you closer to achieving those goals.
KEY POINT: You must transfer the cultivation of your goals into action items that you actually do today.
"You can do anything as long as you break it down into small enough pieces." Tim Sales
The key to achieving your goals.
During the morning cultivation session, transfer from your goal sheet to your daily task tracker (day-planner, Performance Tracker, to-do list, diary, post-it note) an Activity that gets you closer to each goal. Example: You have a goal of financial independence for which you need to earn $5,000 per month. When you read that goal - immediately transfer an action item to your to-do list that will get you closer to the goal--such as "Set a target of 20 phone calls today." As soon as you complete the cultivation period, pick up the phone and make the calls! Don't wait!
The sooner you engage in a productive activity after your cultivation session the better your results will be. After 5 to 7 straight days your skills will sharpen. You will identify the areas in which you need the most help (Performance Tracker will also help you with this).
Write down your goals.
Cultivate them twice daily.
Do at least one activity that gets you closer to each goal.
Track your activities.
Identify areas of needed growth (barriers.)
Educate your way out of barriers.
Achieve your goals. All of them.
