If you were introduced to a quick effective technique to create change in your life instantly - in your finances, health, relationships and career - would you try it?

Christopher Howard, an internationally acclaimed expert in Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and Leadership, has made a career out of guiding people to immediately transform ineffective thoughts and behaviors into adaptable, successful ones that allow them to create the results they want in their lives.

NLP is a hybrid science discovered and created in the early 70’s by a computer scientist and a linguist. The team studied the most effective therapists while they were conducting therapy to find out precisely how change occurred, with the intention of replicating this change for others in a fraction of the time. They found that the most effective method of change consisted of reconstructing beliefs, cognition and language in such a way as to make them work for - instead of against - the patient.

"Think of the human brain as being the most fantastic biocomputer ever created," explains Howard, who has personally led, managed, launched or turned around numerous organizations and businesses in the past decade. "But it’s not user friendly. The technologies we teach are kind of like a Users Guide. Installing a new system, such as the mindset of someone like Ghandi, for example, is like upgrading your software system."

In his courses, Howard uses the traditional techniques of NLP but takes them a step further. For one, he has combined these techniques with hypnosis to further instigate instant change on a subconscious level. He has also expanded upon the original sources used to develop and implement the science of NLP. "Instead of looking only at therapists as a source to model, I began looking to the greatest spiritual, world and business leaders of all time, such as Nelson Mandela, Gandhi, and Richard Branson (the mastermind behind Virgin Records and Virgin Airlines), to name a few. Howard calls the tools he teaches today Creation Technologies. They are tools that allow you to create your life the way that you want by expanding your self concept and expanding the results that you are able to produce in any context.

"Through the technique of modeling, we can look at any result that anybody has every produced and replicate that result in a fraction of the time," explains Howard. "In the various courses we teach through our University of Excellence, modeling, along with other tools, is taught as a means of accelerating one’s own success. We teach how to replicate and expand excellence."

So what is the process of Creation Technologies? Let’s say somebody wants to become a multi-billionaire or super success, and they choose Oprah Winfrey as their role model. "Her success is the result of a superior mindset," says Howard. "The question then becomes: "How can we emulate and install her psychology into somebody else?" All of Oprah’s qualities - her values, attitudes, beliefs, the decisions she’s made, how she sees people, and the strategies she uses to produce the results she wants - are analyzed and broken down. "One of Oprah’s main driving forces is to be loved," explains Howard. "We can take that and then analyze the strategies she’s used to run that driving force. Part of what this technology does is allow us to break things down into small enough parts to make them transferable."

The manner in which Creation Technologies transfers such parts to an individual entails adjusting their values and beliefs in a way that serves their highest potential. "We all have certain ways we code and store information in our minds and bodies. A ’value’ is simply what is important to you, and values will largely shape your world," elaborates Howard. "A ’belief’ is simply a feeling of certainty about something, but it’s not necessarily true. Through Creation Technologies, we can shift the way you store values and beliefs in your body so you can change what’s important to you at the subconscious level, therefore releasing subconscious blocks to your success."

And going back to the computer analogy: "If all you have is poverty or lousy relationships punched into your search engine, that’s all that will come up. We teach people how to gain control of those things so that they can punch wealth and harmony in instead, and then that will appear in their lives."

In the weekend Breakthrough to Success Seminar, people choose an area of their lives where they’re not living up to their full potential. Howard and his associates help them and apply accelerated technologies to break through those blocks. "It’s a wonderful weekend to figure out what subconscious factors are controlling one’s life, and how they can break through these obstacles once and for all," says Howard.

A great example of the success of the techniques taught by Howard is exemplified by an artist who came to a weekend seminar. "She decided to focus on finances first," says Howard. "She was making $70,000 a year at the time. What she learned was that one of her beliefs was that money and happiness didn’t go hand in hand During the training she released this and other limiting decisions through a regression type of technique. Within a year-and-a-half after attending our program, she is now making $180,000 a year and working less. She’s also attended an additional week-long program, lost over 50 pounds, and has gotten her ideal relationship as well."

Howard maintains that there are two things that determine our success in life: our internal communication, which is how and what we communicate inside our minds and bodies (our thoughts), and our external communication, which is the manner in which we communicate with others. "No one who produces major results in the world has done so unless it has been with and through other people," emphasizes Howard. "Creation Technologies teaches us to change internal and external communication, focuses on leadership and groups, and shows people how to develop the ability to be influential in their own lives."

An important aspect of Howard’s training is that he has developed a system where people not only learn the tools for change, but are forced to apply them. In addition to the various exercises done in class, challenging activities such as ropes training, rock climbing, and even hang gliding are used to stretch people beyond their limits to make them believe they can do anything.

Although NLP is largely psychologically-oriented, Howard feels there is a strong spiritual aspect to what he does. "Who we really are is love and light and goodness, and what prevent us from tapping into that are negative emotions and limiting decisions. So when we release those things in our programs, we then become more of who we really are. I see the use of NLP in my courses as a means of getting closer to our spiritual nature.

"When people come into the weekend program," concludes Howard, "they have major changes as a result of being there only two-and-a-half days. They are blown away by the personal transformation they get afterwards and call us for weeks, months and even years later telling us how much their lives have changed. From an instructor’s viewpoint, what could be more fulfilling than that?"

Revolutionising the way we learn, communicate, interact with others and approach our goals, NLP(Neuro Linguistic Programming) has been likened to a manual for the human brain. Bypassing the ineffective process of trial and error, NLP models the actions of those who are highly successful to unlock and replicate what it is that has lead to their success.

How was NLP developed?

NLP began in the early 1970s when two Americans, a mathematician called Richard Bandler and linguist John Grinder, asked themselves a simple but fascinating question: "What is it that makes the difference between somebody who is merely competent at any given skill, and somebody who excels at the same skill?"

Building upon the extraordinary work of therapists Virginia Satir, Milton Erickson and Fritz Perls, and cognitive behavioural psychology, Bandler and Grinder developed formal linguistic and behavioural patterns that went on to become the cornerstone of NLP practices and techniques today.

How does NLP work?

Using specific language patterns to cut through established behavioural and learning patterns, NLP works to change, adopt, or eliminate behaviours as you desire. Updating or upgrading the “menta software” of the brain through directed questioning, reframing, visualisation and modelling, among the hundreds of NLP techniques.

What sets NLP apart from other therapy techniques is the speed at which the profound change occurs. NLP directly targets the way in which we ‘filter’, delete, and generalize the two million pieces of information we receive through our sensory channels each second. Out of the two million ‘bits’ of information we receive we only process seven (plus or minus two) chunks. This means that, out of everything that is happening, we only focus, and therefore only experience, a minute amount.

Think of your focus as being like a flashlight. If you were standing in a dark room with wealth in one corner and poverty in the other, your experience in life would be based upon where you’re pointing your flashlight at any given time. Do you have the flashlight of your focus on wealth, or on poverty?

Aside from providing the ‘wow’ transforming moments, it is NLP’s effectiveness lies in its simplicity and naturalness of concept. It uses the very way in which we make sense of environment - linguistic patterns (speech and self talk), as the method of changing a person ‘filters’ which in turn changes their whole focus.

No psycho babble, no showman techniques, just simple yet powerful techniques to shift your conscious and unconscious focus from the negative and limiting to achieving your true goals. Imparting the skills ability to choose your mental, emotional, and physical states of well being at any time, NLP overhauls your communication skills both internally and externally. Ralph Waldo Emerson said, "The future belongs to those who plan for it." I stumbled onto proactive life planning as a key to success later in my life. In this article I reveal 3 proven strategies for pulling your life together and giving it meaning. You can do life planning now, no matter what your age.

While serving in the Coast Guard I worked for several years in Washington, DC. It always amazed me at how easy it was to get lost there. I know from experience why people say that Mr. L'Enfant designed Washington's streets to be intimidating.

One day, a "Coastie" friend and myself had a meeting downtown. Mistake number 1 - I agreed to drive. Mistake number 2 was even worse - I assumed my friend knew where we were going; but all he knew was the building name.

Being the typical guy characters, neither of us wanted to stop and ask for directions. We were two intelligent officers and we didn't know where we were going. Our chances for success were close to zero.

I'm afraid we were not alone in our foolishness. In fact, some people driving through life don't even know where they want to go. If you are in that situation, then your chance of success IS ZERO.

But, take heart. The following strategies can boost your chances for success to 100%.

Key Strategy # 1 - Take Control of Your Mind
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
People who know what they desire in life are those who are able to take control and know their own minds. You were made in the image of God and He gave you solitary control over your mind for that purpose.

Thinking is work, but it can be fun and even adventurous, especially when you find a subject or activity that you like. When you control your thinking you can dream. If you let yourself dream of what you desire in life, then you are sure to find true happiness and success.

If you have not explored your own desires and dreams, start now by getting a piece of paper and writing them down. It's like stopping and asking for directions, which is what my Coastie friend and I finally did in Washington DC.

Ask yourself, if I had everything I needed; money, time, and support; what would I want to do, be and have? Do this exercise and you will learn how to take control of your mind. It might seem uncomfortable at first, but it will help you.

Key Strategy # 2 - Add Clarity To Your Dreams

Successful people recognize the patterns of success and follow them. One such pattern is to plan what you think and do by adding clarity to your dreams. It's like writing a story about yourself and then acting it out.

My wife works with migrant children, teaching them English and catching them up on academics. One teaching method that has been very successful is puppetry. She coaches the children on developing the characters of their puppets by asking questions; simple at first, and then more thought provoking.

The questioning continues and clarity is added until the characters are unique and interesting individuals. Then the children can name them, make them, and easily put them into stories.

Add clarity to your dreams. Ask yourself questions that help you to be specific about who you are. When you are unique and interesting, you can write your life's story with confidence.

Key Strategy # 3 - Motivate Yourself To Pay The Price

People who have a passion for living motivate themselves to pay the price for their dreams. If you aren't willing to put in the effort to make them happen, they will remain dreams.

As Americans, we believe that the 'pursuit of happiness' is an inalienable right of each person. You can pursue happiness and motivate yourself to become successful by linking your dreams with positive emotions. In so doing you proactively build a strong positive mental attitude.

Use the following mental exercise to strengthen your desire for success. Fix a particular objective in your mind and then link the rewards of accomplishing it to the following emotions: desire, faith, enthusiasm, nurturing, love, and hope. These positive emotions will reinforce your desire and give you the energy and enthusiasm you need to pay the price for your dreams.

In conclusion, there is wisdom within you; an intuition about what is best for you that you need to tap into. Spend a little time each day in quiet thinking so you can continuously add clarity to your dreams. Pursue happiness by emotionalizing your dreams until you have a burning desire to achieve them. It is not selfish; it's Proactive Life Planning.

"There Is Always The First Time"

This is the second article in an exciting 3-part series answering the question, "How do we overcome our fears?"

Ralph Waldo Emerson said, "Fear defeats more people than any other one thing in the world." Therefore, I want to teach you how to rid yourself of those bad fears that hold you back from success and abundance.

We learned in the first article, that in order to proactively rid yourself of your fears, you need to remove the "three ignorances" that cause your fears.

The first ignorance to overcome is "not knowing enough about the thing you fear." We naturally fear the unknown. However, instead of letting the unknown paralyze us, we can use it to direct our learning. Our proactive mantra is, "You can learn anything you need to know to remove any fear."

Overcoming The Second Ignorance
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The second ignorance to overcome is "not knowing how to control the thing you fear." Emerson said, "Do the thing you fear and the death of fear is certain." Fear is removed by doing the thing you fear because you will learn how to be in control.

When you hear yourself saying, "But I've never done that before," your proactive response should be, "There is always the first time." Our lives are filled with "first time" events. They are necessary and good.

The following are some proactive guidelines to help you take your "first steps" in the right way so you will be bound for success.

The First Step Gives You Courage
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You probably weren't old enough to remember your first wobbly step as a toddler, but you might recall your first day of school and that frightening school bus ride. Or, how about going to a wilderness summer camp, leaving your parents for a whole week? If you're like me, the second time was much easier because I felt in control.

There is an old Chinese proverb that says, "The journey of a 1000 leagues starts with a single step." I've discovered that although the first step is a small distance, it is that single step that has accomplished the most, because by taking the first step I have made a choice.

Making a choice narrows your thinking and it concentrates your courage. It's like a magnifying glass concentrating the sun's rays so that it can burn through paper. Your new-found courage will give you the power to control the thing you fear. You become the master as you learn control.

Accept That The First Time Will Not Be Perfect

Dan Kennedy, a business and marketing guru, says, "Nothing is worth doing, if it is not worth doing badly at first." How can you do something well if you don't give yourself permission to learn from your mistakes?

Did you get on a bicycle and ride it perfectly the first time? I didn't either. My parents helped me by creating a safe environment on level ground. I also started with training wheels. I remember being afraid at first, and there were some scrapes and bruises, but mostly I recall my elation of accomplishment. I quickly gained proficiency and the bicycle became my primary mode of transport and pleasure for many years.

Create for yourself a safe learning environment. If you are learning public speaking, don't start with a 500-person audience. Start out with small audiences that will give you positive feedback. Join Toastmasters or a similar group that will help guide you.

Practice The First Time In Your Mind
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Our minds are the center of creativity. Napoleon Hill said, "What the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve." I firmly believe that Hill's statement includes doing the thing you fear too.

If you fear starting a business, then practice doing it for the first time successfully in your mind. If you are learning sales, then observe other successful sales reps and put yourself in their shoes. Your subconscious mind won't know the difference and it will give you positive feedback.

When you apply these proactive guidelines, you become a master of fear instead of a victim of fear. Proactively look into the future and plan your "first times" with a positive attitude. Take the first step in doing the thing you fear and you will receive the courage you need to continue, and soon your fear will vanish.

Then when you set out to tackle the next fear, just remember, "There is always the first time," and go to it.

In the next article of this series we will learn about the third ignorance to overcome, which is "not knowing what motivates you to rid yourself of your fears." You will learn that every achievement starts with some type of motivation, including overcoming your fears. Therefore you will want to read "Motivate Yourself To Run Toward Your Fears."

"You Can Learn Anything You Need To Know To Remove Any Fear"

I want to help you to learn how to overcome the fears that defeat you and hold you back. If you rid yourself of your fears, success and abundance are sure to be your destiny.

The Three Things That Cause Bad Fears
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We are told that there are three things that establish the value of a home: location, location, and location. Therefore you look at its proximity to schools, where you work, and important amenities.

Although it sounds a bit crass, there are three things that establish the fears that defeat you: ignorance, ignorance, and ignorance. Our lack of knowledge sets us up for failure.

This is actually good news, because, quoting Brian Tracy "We can learn anything we need to know in order to achieve any goal we set for ourselves." That means, we can overcome ANY fear if we set it as a goal!

During this 3-part series, you will learn how to proactively rid yourself of the fears that keep you from success by removing the "three ignorances" that cause them.

Overcoming The First Ignorance

The first ignorance to overcome is "not knowing about the thing you fear." We naturally fear the unknown. That is not bad in itself. In fact it is a God-given quality. But "unknowns" are meant to help us direct our learning, not hold us back.

You can probably recall many things that you were fearful of until you learned more about them. Learning removes fears.

Consider the example of Christopher Columbus. People were deathly afraid of sailing across the Atlantic. Something that is hard to imagine now. But Columbus learned astronomy and math. He became a ship captain and learned all about navigating. His knowledge gave him a tremendous level of courage that caused him to be fearless. He KNEW that his ships would not sail off the end of the earth.

Our proactive mantra should be, "You can learn anything you need to know to remove any fear."

Honey I Shrunk Your Fears
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Stealing from the MGM Movie, you can easily shrink your fears by shrinking the job of learning.

Jim Rohn says the first task of any job is "break it down." Divide and conquer has always been sound advice. Whatever it is that you are trying to accomplish, splitting it up into tasks that can be easily managed will shrink a huge job down so it is not so daunting.

Break down the job of learning into tasks. Decide what you are going to learn first by thinking of what would help you the most right now. Also consider what would help you in learning the other things that you need to learn.

For example, the number one fear of most people is public speaking. The vast majority of people fear it because they never learned how to do it properly. Most of us were thrust into the situation as young children, of being forced to read or recite something in front of a class, most of who were eager for any excuse to laugh or find fault.

You can break down the fear of public speaking by reading about it. I highly recommend Dale Carnegie's books to start with. Oh how I wish I had been taught these principles back in grade school. I had the fear of public speaking. Carnegie's books completely changed my attitude and helped me to rid myself of that fear.

Rid Yourself of the Fear Of Learning
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It is sad but true, many people fear the task of learning. And of course you don't have to, not if you start with learning how to learn.

Believe it or not, I was afraid of going into a library. Not as a kid, but as an adult! I already had a college degree, and I didn't know how to use the library. I viewed it as "term paper hell."

Fortunately I'm married to a brave woman who took on the task of educating me and showing me how libraries can be fun and rewarding. Now I'm a "book-aholic" and I spend most of my day either reading or writing or surfing the internet for more great books.

So keep reminding yourself, "You can learn anything you need to know to remove any fear." Make this your mantra and success and abundance will follow.

In the next article of this series we will learn about the second ignorance to overcome, which is "not knowing how to control the thing you fear." You will learn that fear is removed by doing and, "There is always the first time."

ISN'T IT TIME TO GET OUT OF THE SLAVE CAMP?

SHAME! SHAME ON YOU!
How dare you tread on sacred ground like that!

He he. I bet that got you going didn't it? :)

You are quite right. How many hours are lost irretrievably by playing games and chatting on line. And for what? If we live to seventy years, that's 613,200 hours of time that we all have. 204,400 are gone with your head stuck to the pillow. 102,200 are gone, scrubbing off germs, feeding the ever growing midriff and using the John. If you are lucky enough to be working a forty hour a week then you will use another 92,000 hours helping your boss get rich. (Assuming you can retire at 65 to enjoy your "twilight years" in poverty.) Another 22,500 hours are gone looking at the backend of the car in front, so you can get to the slave camp to help your boss get rich.

What's left? If you don't watch TV, play games, or chat on the Computer, or surf the net. If you don't take too long to eat and don't count the downtime from sicknness, etc. you have a grand total of: 192,100 hours divided by weeks, equals- 53 hours per week approximately.

Here's the crunch. That's if you live to seventy and right now you are one year old!

Use your time wisely, otherwise when your boss is retired on the fruits of your labour, you might be cleaning the toilet of the resort he decides to stay in!

Didn't take too long to work this out, but it's a sobering thought isn't it!

WHY DO SOME SUCCEED?

Why do only some succeed, while others fail? Is it because some quit too soon? Is it a lack of faith, commitment, focus, or special skills?

This question has perplexed many throughout time. Perhaps the answer can only be answered inside of a person.

What makes things move in and out of fashion, popular, then not, then popular again?

If quitting were the problem, then we say, "never give up." If faith, then, "believe only." If commitment, "be self-sacrificing." If focus, "define your goals." If special skills, then "practice makes perfect."

How is it that a person arrives at their time to succeed? What is it about one day that was not true of the other? Why can two people look at a forest, while one sees a fearful place, while the other sees trees felled and lumbered into boards, a house built, land cleared, and a thriving and fertile estate, built from the same forest?

Is it only perception? Then, "let us see the good and dare to dream." Is it also courage? Then, "let us march forward, though fear bristle at the back of our necks."

How much of all of this is destiny and how much is our own choice? If we choose to act with failure mannerisms, have we then caused our own failure, or were our mannerisms destined against us?

Is knowing the right choice enough? What force is it that makes us act errantly, when we already know better? Knowledge cannot save us in the day of our sorrow. Learning is a disatisfying companion if we are dreadfully lonely. Clear thinking may avoid us when pressures mount and multiply against us too quickly. And even when the plot is well-mapped, a little procrastination can destroy much good.

We've all heard the story of the good Samaritan, an Arab that showed godliness through generosity of spirit, paying for the shelter and recovery of a man left beaten in the streets, passed over by religious people and priests alike, left for dead, but saved by the good Samaritan, thus proving affiliation and doctrinal expertise are meaningless without compassion.

The good Samaritan took risks. He exposed himself to the possibility of having to encounter the same hostile forces as the man he helped. He risked an unknown amount of expenses building up for the man's recovery, during the absence of his continued journey. But, all things considered, he chose to take all the risks, in order to follow the sense of what was good and right in his heart.

His act of kindness was indicated to grant him the gift of kindness from God toward him, in exchange for his compassionate act toward a complete stranger.

"What's in it for me?" That's always the big question out here in Mammon, where the greedy pursuit of wealth is king. The Great Lesson, however, is always the same: GIVE WHAT YOU WANT TO GET.

People seem obstinately resistant to gathering wealth by the immutable process of getting wealthy by making others wealthy. They seem to want to take in without giving out, seem to want to protect what they have and so pass by, not wanting to take the chance, not wanting to get involved.

The facts have been in for a long time. Most people settle for mediocrity. Most people die broke. Most people choose timidity in the face of opposition. Most people do not deliberately change the course and flow toward themselves by giving what they want to get.

People want support. Why do they not perceive their calling to be supportive?

People want to get rich. Why do they not see that they are thereby describing their own work, which is to make others rich?

People want to get. How is it they do not see the requirement to give, then?

People want downlines. Then put downlines under others.

People want growing residual income. Then make residual income grow for others.

People want to have success. Then make others succeed.

Wisdom cries aloud in the streets, "How long, O you simple ones, will you love simplicity?"

In other words, "Look out for others and #1 will be taken care of just fine."

Appreciate, This Spiritual Law

For you to truly be "In Joy" with your life you need to Appreciate what you already have.

When I coach people on finding success, I tell them to first Appreciate What they have.

If you ain't happy with what you got, you ain't gonna get no more.

"Until you appreciate what you have first. You don't Need any more and you won't Get any more" - T. Harv Eker

It goes back to counting your blessings again. It brings me Joy to count blessings.

Appreciate Your Family, appreciate whatever you have, car, home, etc. Spend 1 minute per day just being Thankful that you live in a country that allows you to have all these blessings.

When you start this process, your life will change. Your heart will fill with JOY!

What The Hell Do You Want That For? - Spiritual Laws

You know I see so many people say, "I want to be rich" or "I just want to be happy".

Their vagueness on the universe is relatively surprising. I feel if you don't know what you want, how will the universe produce it for you.

We talked before about writing things down that Really get your blood going. Things that you have to have or Have to do. When you operate from the 'Have To" it changes your paradigm and shifts your sub-conscious into high gear.

A few years ago I made a promise to myself that my children would become more than what their family history dictated to them. This is not an "I would Like to Have", this is a "MUST HAVE"

Let me explain this. Our family has lived in this Northern community for over 150 years. My ancestors originally moved here as homesteaders. The land was given to them if they would clear the land and work it. Being a remote area at the time created a high sense of "Poverty Mentality". Passed down through time, this mentality seemed to haunt our family. We were content with making enough to get by. Living a meager lifestyle. The cycle continuing and perpetuating.

Today, in this time of opportunity too many people still feel they have to settle for there lot in life. They are not deserving of more. However, I feel this is so untrue.

When you find those things that burn a desire within you. When you figure out WHAT your purpose for money is and know you "Have To" go forward Because, Then you will get what you want.

The universe is going out of its way to make sure you get whatever you want. You, Just have to want it AND you have to be specific.

Make yourself a list of 5 things you MUST have. Five things YOU really WANT, not need.
Ask yourself How your life would be if you had that. Post that list above your desk or on your night stand and then watch the magic happen.

Napoleon Hill spoke of "Definiteness of Purpose". Desire and Faith are the keys to making your Definiteness of Purpose come to crystallization.

Don't Believe a Word I Say!

You know, one of the funniest things that I see people do is believe the
crap that comes out of there own mouths.

I don't mean to sound cynical, however, have you ever noticed that the more ignorant we are about something the louder our voice becomes trying to express our views to others.

It is a need to be right. I have no idea Why we developed this characteristic. Our Belief's just seemed to develop as we walked in transition.

Belief's are the way we base our whole life. What we learned as a small child, carries us forward to this day. The belief's we developed at the age of 10 or 12 are still running us. The best thing we can do is quit believing the stuff that comes from our own mouths. Open our minds to acquiring true wealth and that is KNOWLEDGE!

When we acquire knowledge, riches follow.

Two friends of mine went to see Harv Eker last weekend in Vancouver. The course was the Millionaire Mind Intensive. They shared with us last night the emotions of this life changing event. Imagine waking up in your mid-life to find that the very things you treasure about your reality your belief's, have kept you from accomplishing your goals for your whole life. Imagine finding out that there is no place in your life for Anger, Fear, Quilt and a host of other negative emotions. Imagine having all these false emotions neutralized before you very eyes.

Spiritual Law - Add Value

Adding Value to other people’s lives. Success training isn’t about trying to figure how much money you can put in your pocket. Success training is about earning your wealth so that you can KEEP it longer.

“Brooks, What do you mean Keep it longer?”

The Universal laws that provided it to you in the first place soon consume anything given and not earned. If you have taken without payment, that is theft and a price must be paid for that.
So lets have a look at this following phrase told to me by Warren Contreras,

”He who helps the most people wins!”

This is a statement of adding Value. So many of our mentors talk about this. I believe it truly reflects what humanity is all about.

You are invited to a Pot Luck Dinner over at your friends house. Every person contributes by bringing a dish of food of some sorts. You, bring nothing.
How do you feel? Is Guilt the predominant feeling that you have right now?
Can you sit at the table with so many others and eat their food? Not likely, you will feel like you are not deserving.

These same underlying principals are at work on your subconscious when you don’t add value to other people’s lives. Subconsciously your guilt may prevent you from being successful, because you have not provided value.

In “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill, Hill states that,
“The method by which desire for riches can be transmuted into its financial equivalent, consists of, determining exactly what you intend to GIVE in return for the money you desire.”

His next words really drive the point home,
“There is no such reality as something for nothing”

It's about living true to your purpose. It's about adding your piece of the puzzle to the world. It's about serving others.

Most people are so stuck in their egos that everything revolves around "me, me and more me." But again, it's not about you, it's about adding value to other people's lives.

Buckminster Fuller said, "The purpose of our lives is to add value to the people of this generation and those that follow."

The goal is to share your gifts and value with as many people as possible.

Many people believe you must tithe with money or time or ideas. Whichever works for you is fine. It is paying your dues that counts

The Worth Of You

Does this sound familiar?

A well known speaker started off his seminar by holding up a $20 bill. In the room of 200, he asked, who would like this $20 bill? Hands started going up. He said, I am going to give this $20 to one of you but first, let me do this. He proceeded to crumple the dollar bill up. He then asked, who still wants it? Still the hands were up in the air. Well, he replied, what if I do this? And he dropped it on the ground and started to grind it into the floor with his shoe. He picked it up, now crumpled and dirty. Now who still wants it? Still the hands went into the air.

My friends, you have all learned a very valuable lesson. No matter I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease in value. It is still worth $20.

Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled, and ground into the dirt by the decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way. We feel as though we are worthless. But no matter what has happened or what will happen, you will never lose your value: dirty or clean, crumpled or finely creased, you are still priceless to those who love you.

The worth of our lives come not in what we do or who we know, but by WHO WE ARE.

They get fat. Another couple invests $160 a month in using their secret hidden talent and develop it into a thriving nest egg. They stay slim and healthy. In a few years, they retire.

You are at a decision point in your life where the little choices you make each day will add up. You have already been making a choice every day since you learned your secret hidden talent at age five. The choice has been - Please do not pay me. Now you have received new information which provides you with the opportunity to get paid versus continuing with the same daily decision.

I hope yesterday had some key insights for you.

I just want to add a few more little things about Fear.

Fear is the Thief of the Mind. It will keep you from accomplishing your goals and fulfilling your purpose. It is the root cause that will hold YOU back. Fear is only a story you have made up in your mind. Your fear is not someone else's.

" The fears of one class of men are not the measure of the rights of another." - Joanna Baillie

So today we have an exercise. We are going to make the invisible, visible. This exercise is going to show you What is Holding You Back.

Write down WHAT you are afraid of. Every little REASON that is holding you back from those dreams you wrote down the other day. Really think about it. Is it, "My Bills, Mortgage, car payments. Is it a loved one or your mate. Is it that you are comfortable where you are."

Comfort can be recognized as a fear also in some cases.

Those reasons that you wrote down. Why You are afraid to do what you want to do, Go tell them to someone and watch them laugh. Those reasons are just the stories You made Up.

Those Reasons give you your little box.

Spiritual Laws - What Is Holding You Back?

So, we have talked about JOY, we have talked about PURPOSE. The highest form of fulfillment is fulfilling your Duty, your Purpose.

or definite goal at which to aim. 98 out of every 100 of those whom I have
analyzed had no such aim. Perhaps this is the major cause of their failure.” –
Napoleon Hill

These 2 key elements can ensure you happiness and Success. There is a question to be answered then. What is Holding you back?

If you know what it will take to make you happy and successful, why are you not doing it?

The BIGGEST problem that I see in people is FEAR. Some call it a comfort zone. It is not comfortable being miserable and broke. I have been there and it is a disgusting existence.
As many names and faces as I wanted to paint it, it was FEAR! Under all of the misery in my life, it was FEAR. When we let FEAR control our life there is no life. When we take control of fear we take back our life and begin to live from Joy and Purpose.

You have an obligation to live a virtuous life and one of the Virtues is Courage. Courage does not have to mean that you must rescue a damsel in distress, or fight off the evil hordes, which are at the gate. You must have the courage to challenge your own fear and defeat the enemy within you. Fear is keeping you from everything you have ever wanted.

Successful people have Fear. They just don’t let it stop them.

A mortgage is an obligation. Obligations are just more FEAR’s. It is a ‘Should’ or a “Have-To”. It is just your Opinion. You have made up the fear. You have created the story in the ‘Soap Opera’ of your mind. Fear, is just the minds anticipation of some reaction to a story it has created.

I have a friend, who’s biggest fear is Public Speaking. Personally, I love speaking in public. Anyone can do, it is not hard. The fear, is just a made up story that has been created to protect this persons feelings of being criticized or from being judged by others. It does not make it right or wrong. It is just their story. That is all.

Good Day to you all!

A spectacular day today in Northern Ontario. The sun is bathing us with its warmth. It is a great day to be alive.

In this past few years, our group (mastermind) has grown so much it is hard to recognize people. Their voices have changed, Their confidence has changed, their mannerisms, EVERYTHING!
These are new people now and they can never return to the mediocre life they used to have.
They have become Mentors and Coaches themselves and are now teaching this to so very many people.

Who would have guessed that the realms of the mind, your spirituality, could mean so much in your success.

So changing your paradigm is imperative to your success. One of the first places we need to start working on is our happiness.

JOY is a clue from the heart. It is the source of your full power.

Joy is passion, passion creates energy, energy creates enthusiasm. Be passionate about what you are doing. So many people today are not happy. If you do not love what you are doing, then you will most likely never be successful at it. You will be destined to a life of mediocrity.

These people in our group are learning to be passionate with life. Be passionate about what they do. RE-Build their belief system, so that they come from taking Joy in what they do.

To build JOY I ask people to daily list their five successes for that particular day. I don't care how mundane they may seem to others. These are your accomplishments. You have to train your mind to come from the positive and not the negative.

If your WHY is to prove to others that you can be successful, then you will not likely succeed.
"I'll show them. I can be successful. Just you wait and see!"
There is nothing to Prove. If you come from Joy, knowing that you are living life to fullest and providing value to others, then success lies but a few steps away.

For those of you who have a lot of negative in your life or low self-worth and/or low self-esteem. We are currently experimenting with ways to fast-track this healing process. Training Saves Lives, Saves Lifestyles, Saves You!

I volunteer my time at our local Fire department here in my small community. It is a department second to none in my eyes. We face the same challenges as other Municipal departments even though we may not get the call volume.

One thing I have noticed is how close we all are when it comes to working together. We share a vision of safety for our community. We believe that our lives, and the lives of others, are safe because we Train.

We train for the worst and hope for the best. It is a process of repetition and rehearsal. We train to make the process mechanical, without flaw. When a catastrophe happens we rely on our training to carry us through with professionalism.

There isn’t a career that a person can do that doesn’t require training. Yet to my amazement, most people start home businesses and enter Network Marketing without seeking any training whatsoever. For the life of me I can’t figure Why they would do this.

They are DOOMED …….. DOOMED I say!

I have witnessed many people fail in the Home Business arena due to this key factor.

There are only 2 ways to change your Paradigm/ Your Belief System,
1) an Emotional event or
2) Constant repetitious speech.

That is how we Train our minds to Believe. That will see us through the catastrophes with professionalism.

In the book, “The Richest Man In Babylon” one of the “5 rules of gold” is listed as, seek knowledge prior to investing your earnings. You don’t go to the Brick Maker for advice on buying Jewels.

Seek council of those who have succeeded before you.
A Path to follow is easier to migrate, than breaking a trail. Ask questions.

My Goal In Life Is To.....?

Did you ever have a problem writing down your goals?

I know the first time I tried to do this on paper, I had great difficulty doing it.

What is it I want? Hmmmm?????????

I really didn't know. I could only think of what I did not want. My mentors told me that was not good enough. I had to find the reason to become more, "I Needed to find my WHY".

That can be a nearly impossible to someone who has not been trained to dream. The reality of life for most people is that our education system, our peers, nearly everyone teaches you not to dream. Don't do this you could get hurt. Don't do that you could lose money. Specialize in your education and get a good job.

I had become a product of societal thinking.

"Every man is like the company he is wont to keep." Euripides

You might as well talk in a foreign tongue. My mind could not comprehend what to write down. There were lots of things I wanted but nothing got down to my core desire. I knew, "I want to be rich" was not good enough.

I thought maybe there was something wrong with my thinking. I told my mentors, "I know what I DON'T Want. Is That good enough?" "NO" was their answer.

Here to me is a key element in Success Coaching that most people miss. There is just as much Emotion and Desire in "Not Wanting" as what there is in "Wanting".

Goals are great, but it is a transition, a process that a person needs to go through. So when you are coaching your students, downline, children, whatever, make sure you let them go through this process.

"A successful person is one who can lay a firm foundation with the bricks that others throw at him or her. " Psalms (ch. LXXV, v. 6)

If you know you you are sick and tired of being sick and tired, that can build enough emotion to make you take action. Following were some of my "Don't Wants". See if any of these sound like your thoughts.

I hated the fact my children were developing my bad habits, I don't want them to make the same mistakes.
I don't want to work to make someone else rich my whole life.
I don't want to live a life of mediocrity
I don't want to say things like, "I should Have" or "I could Have"
I don't want all my Glory Days behind me, in my past
I don't want my grandchildren to live a life of shattered dreams
I don't want my children to know a world of debt
I don't want to wonder if my life could have been different.
There were plenty, as you can see. These are just a few examples. I am sure that you have your own. Do they fill your with a PASSION to change your life?

Those "Don't Wants" were powerful to me and made me take Action to change my life.

Awaken The GIANT!

You, me, everyone has within them the power to accomplish ANY task.

I call it the Sleeping Giant. The Sleeping Giant lies dormant in you until you are ready to summon it up. You are its Master, only you can control it. Once Tamed it will serve you and grant all your wishes, but, use caution, it will grant you good and bad wishes.

Inside that Brain of yours lies your Sub-Conscious. Over 4 Billion impulses per second are going on back and forth between the left and right hemispheres of the brain. THAT is a lot of chatter. You Conscious mind can only process about 2000 impulses per second, the rest is the talk of your Sub-conscious.

To awaken your sub-conscious, to tap its resources it will take 3 commands.
Desire, Imagination and Expectation.

Desire is the FUEL. It is Passion in the belly of the beast. When you want to bring your goals to reality, you have to want it so bad you can taste it.

Imagination is used as the canvas on which you will paint your future picture. It must be full of color and detail and show exactly what you want. It must be a work of art and challenge all your senses.

Expectation - Expecting what you are going to do is already working for you. FAITH is the command to build and nurture. Expect nothing less than exactly what you want. A great example of Expectation working against you is Superstition. How many of us Hex ourselves everyday with limiting belief's.

The Perfect Day!

Have you ever wondered what a perfect day would be?

Would you be happy or sad?
Would you be passionate or blasA?
Would you run to the nearest mountain top and shout or for the whole world to hear?

Let me describe to you what my perfect day is.

This morning when I got up and watched the sun rising over the trees, I noticed how there wasn't a cloud in the sky. The sky shifted to a spectacular blue. The sunlight cast across my yard to reveal a MILLION diamonds sparkling and glittering in the sun. The trees, all of them, were bathed with a coat of white diamonds. Everywhere I looked there was this rich beauty. No wind, no noise (we live in the country), just this peace and calm. The snow which recently fell lay so bright white. The purest white you can imagine. I had to squint my eyes just to look at it.

The first snow of the season always makes me feel like nature is cleansing itself. It is showing us the beauty of it sleeping during the winter months. Calmness, peace all things we should be very Thankful for.

I don't know what you think about it, but I believe all those growth projections for the internet and I plan around it, too.

We have the opportunities to be of great assistance to the continual influx of new people and we can grow rich in the process.

The playing field for riches is more level in our day and time than it has ever been before. Sure, the masses are fearful. It often seems too wonderful to them, they become suspicious, but it is really because of the past. There has never been the kind of opportunity we have today, EVER, in the history of the world, so a lot of people are still stuck on believing it isn't possible!

Yes, I know, it seems silly and it is silly, but people take time to get new things down inside them. When I was growing up, I had a friend whose grandmother swore up and down that we never landed on the moon and that it was all an elaborate hoax! She went to her grave believing that, even though everyone assured her it was all so very real.

Making money on the internet can be a lot like that to people. Face it, they've been hammered all their life, "Go to school and get a good job with a good company." So, that's what they do. Then we come along and tell them to start their own internet business, be their own boss, make more money than they ever could working at their job, and that the internet is the gold mine they've been looking for, just place ads from their computers and get in on the gravy train.

We're not lying. We even offer proof. But, they're scared. They're not good risk managers. They can't see losing a few thousand dollars, for example, in order to figure out how to make a few hundred thousand dollars per month. They are like the old saying, "a penny wise and a dollar foolish."

"Hindsight is always 20-20." They'll be able to look back at some point and say, "Crap, I should've risked this and I should've stuck with that."

Throughout history, the average person has been trained to view opportunity as something elusive and unattainable in the far distance. But, on the internet, it jumps up in your lap! That's simply because so many communication barriers have been broken down and the needed skill levels have been drastically reduced.

People have a hard time imagining that just about all they need to do is keep advertising. But, what else is there? True, you can learn html or programming, but you can also pay others to do that for you, if you want to. In just the same way, opportunity may come to a person "ready to go," site designed and programmed, recruiting system proven and in place. All people have to do is get in and go to it.

These are fortunate times we live in. Let's not waste them on the ghostly fears of times gone by. Opportunity is no longer in the distance. It is yours to embrace right where you are.

Last night I spoke with some friends of mine that just arrived back from "The Millionaire Mind Intensive" by T. Harv Eker in Vancouver, BC. It was amazing to listen to the passion in their voices. They have changed forever, they can never go back to their old life. They have started to live their Purpose.

Passion and Joy, Determination and Focus will ensure their success over the next very short period of time. When you discover your PURPOSE in life, when you discover your DUTY your life changes.

We all have a purpose. The meaning to your life is live your purpose and bring Value to other peoples lives. I believe when we are walking off our path, we are truly in despair. Look around you at the people who are not happy with their circumstance. Some feel that God has given them a bad deal. Some feel that they don't deserve wealth. Some feel that their misery is their pre-destined plan.

You create your life, you create the exact amount of your success. Nobody else can control this but you.

So HOW do we discover what our purpose is?

I want you to sit down and make a list of all your personal talents. These are the things that you can honestly say you are really good at. It has to excite you. You have to feel the passion in your heart when you say it.

Example, "I am really good at telling stories" "I love solving problems." "I am a great musician"

Do you get the idea? It has to have passion.

When you have made your list, look at it and see how many of these skills you are currently using in the career you are in now. If you are not using the Vast majority of your talents, then you probably don't love what you are doing and you are not fulfilling your duty, your dharma.

Here is the part that will rob you of true happiness and Joy in your life.

IF YOU Don't USE It, YOU WILL Lose It!

I am not telling you to quit your job, but you had better ask yourself, "What is keeping you where you are, if you are not happy."

Next step, write as many things as you can about What you would really love to do, Dream BIG!

Remember there are no limits here, no mortgages, no responsibility, no restrictions, just you saying What you would really love to do. "I would Love to be a Pilot. That would be the perfect job" or "I want to be a movie star".

Whatever it is write it down. Look at your list. Do these jobs, things, use your natural talents.

If the answer is "YES", then what is stopping you?

Your life is too short to experience anything less than JOY and Success.

Finally.. Pillar 5 of the Success Elements

Well here we are again, back with another of the success pillars. Thank you for taking your time to read them. I hope you find them informative and enlightening. We are nearing the end of our journey on this topic.

There are 5 key elements that a home based business can be built on. Let me point out that, these elements are crucial in all industries not just the home-based market. We call them the 5 pillars of success. Of those 5 pillars you are only in control of 2. Plus, there is one other ingredient that you must add to the mix to make it all work. I will tell you about that detail later.

The Pillars are; Timing, Trends, Company, Compensation and Product.

Pillar #5. Product. It's gotta have Pizzaz!

This is the second element that you can control. Remember, there are only two. The first was the Company you choose. The Product you pick, will decide your believe level. Your new found passion and will spell out the amount of success you will have.

In this industry if your product is not remarkable, you are invisible.

Think of yourself as a wholesaler of unique and interesting products that the masses must come to you to get. Would you want to be in a network marketing business selling candy bars or vinyl records? I can walk in to my local convenience shop and buy candy bars. Although it may be a great product it is not very exciting and would be difficult to build a business with.

You need a product people will buy even with no compensation plan. You need a system for your people to retail product to the consumer. Wal-Mart is the world's largest retail corporation. How big would their parking lot need to be if they only sold to their employees? In network marketing you have to retail a product or service to make a profit.

It all comes down to the product. Now I am not here to knock any one else's products.

Success Tip - You must get excited about the product you take. You must have enough passion to tell others about it? Always try the product for yourself before you commit to buying huge quantities of stock for your garage or basement. We used to call that Garage Educated.

This is a referral business, contrary to what some of the internet marketing companies tell you. In network marketing you get paid by selling a product, either through a downline or retailing, someone has to buy something along the way. When you go to a good movie, you tell people about it. When you go to a good restaurant, you tell people about it. When you take a great product that gives you a result, you are going to tell people about it.

The problem with the old way of network marketing was. No exciting products. That's it! You won't sell what you don't believe in. If you won't take it, why would anyone else? Some of the older companies just kept loading more and more products onto their distributors. None of them were very special and the ones that were special, got lost in the backpages of the web catalogue. FOCUS on what you like.

Here is another key. There must be a product. It is the law. The government has done a very good job of protecting us, but if someone is asking you to join a company where you lay out $100, $200, $400 - $1500.00 and you don't get a product in return for it, run away, it is just not right.

So what is HOT right now? Keep 'em looking and feeling younger. Those old baby-boomers want to die young as late as possible. Products, that will give physical results to the person taking it. It should give energy, pain relief, softer skin, or slows aging. Would you buy products like that? Of course you would.

These are basic principles to be successful. If a business is not easy to do, simple to understand, people won't do it.

Have Your Business Run Itself

So.....

You are so excited to have your new business. You love to interact with clients or customers, and to create, create, create!

Then you are hit with realization that paperwork, finances, marketing and all that business stuff is eating away at your time. And much of it you don't even like to do. Your own business starts to become just another job-- with more responsibility.

The answer is 'systems'. You want to set up systems so your business practically runs itself. You can think of a system as a recipe for a part of your business.

Part of being your own boss is the flexibility of working when you choose and traveling when you want. When you are doing everything yourself and doing it the hard way, you lose this flexibility. You become tied to your job 24-7. Put systems in place so you don't always have to be there.

An Example

As an illustration, say you had a chili making business in your backyard. Taking orders was wasting a lot of your time. So, you decide to systemize it. You create an order taking process- what you say, forms to use, how payment is taken, and so on. Once you have a good system in place you can hire a high school student to take orders for you, teaching him or her the system. It's easy for them to remember because you wrote it all down and put it in your Systems Manual!

So which part of your business takes up a lot of your time? Write down the process for handling that area. Refine it. Improve it. Then put it in your Systems Manual, and find someone who can learn to do it well, at the lowest possible price.

Checklists

One way to systemize is to use checklists. When you create a system, remember it by writing it down or typing it up. You could have a checklist for proofing your web site, checking your newsletter or submitting articles.

Checklists are also great for routines. You can write down what you want to do every day, every week, each month and every year for your business.

Here is an example for a coaching business. Suppose you wrote a list of what you'll do every week...

A lot of software exists now to help systemize your business, from accounting to promoting your web site to working your affiliate program (automatic sales force) to compiling your e-books. For example...

If a part of your business is difficult for you, too time consuming or you really don't like doing it, hire it out. Find a virtual assistant to do customer service, go through your e-mail, research, or organize your travel plans. My assistant Carmel has eased up my workload tremendously. Your accountant can handle your finances. The kid next door can stuff envelopes, or even clean your house! Now you can concentrate on your business.

Note: Of course you may not be able to afford all this at once. That's where profit comes in. You want to generate a small profit in the business. Then use some of that to invest in a system. Then grow the profit a little more, and use some of that to invest in another system.

How would you rate your Company?

In earlier BLOGs you learned the first 2 pillars of success. Timing and Trends.

There are 5 key elements that a home based business can be built on. Let me point out that, these elements are crucial in all industries not just the home-based market. We call them the 5 pillars of success. Of those 5 pillars you are only in control of 2. Plus, there is one other ingredient that you must add to the mix to make it all work. I will tell you about that later.

So, what are the five elements or pillars, you are wondering?

They are; Timing, Trends, Company, Compensation and Product.

Pillar #3. Company. Can I pick the Winner this time?

This is one of the elements that you actually get to control. You and only you can pick the company that you want to be associated with. So we will tell you some things to look for and hopefully offer you some sound advice.

I want to start with some advice. Do your Homework. Before you choose the company you are about to devote your spare time to, make sure they have some sound practices.

Many will tell you to look for a company that has been around since cheese was invented. That, could not be further from the truth, unless of course you are only looking to have a hobby, make a FEW dollars in your spare time and spend lots of hours trying to build something that can’t be done.

If you are looking to make the big bucks you will need to find a company with solid leadership. The leaders in a company absolutely must have a vision of YOUR prosperity, not saving the blue-eared tick-tailed dingo-dog in a foreign land.

Are the tools in place for you to become successful? And, how much do they cost? Training is number one. If you don’t have a complete, systemized training program that can take the first-time marketer, or the seasoned veteran, through the process quickly and efficiently, they will fail. Your time is better spent promoting, rather than developing, a process.

“Go with a company listed on the NADAQ”. That was, at one time, a good thing. It showed stability and a company that was in for the long run. Today however, markets have changed. Ask yourself this, do you want to be on a team that has your best interests at heart OR the stockholders. Hmmmm!

There are associations today that were formed to protect you, the distributor, from malicious attacks by companies. http://www.mlm-dra.com/ is the website for the Distributor Rights Association. Find a company that has low enrollment costs. That gives you some time to feel the water. Sometimes the picture is painted very rosy UNTIL you join. Then you find there is no upline support, no customer service support, poor shipping, and delays in returning calls if they ever do.

Every time we have ever seen a company or down-line explode and go away, it does so because of the same 2 reasons: GREED and EGO. Don’t get married to your company. This is business, if things don’t feel quite right to you, then they probably are not. Do not be blinded by the hype and propaganda.

True leaders are the Mentors with the servant's heart. Build people and people will build the business. The idea behind the function of leadership is to produce more leaders, not more followers.

People are people. They are not a number. They have goals, dreams & desires. Network marketing is not a sales business. Network marketing is a teaching & mentoring referral business.

These are basic principles to be successful. If a business is not easy to do, simple to understand, people won’t do it.

The problem that people face in life is that they often accept the reality that they’ve been handed by families, friends, co-workers, society, the media, and so on. The reality that you accept is made up of a matrix of interacting belief systems that can either be useful to you or disempower you. Financial beliefs that can disempower you include convictions such as "It’s hard to make money," "You have to be born into wealth," or "You have to work for years to make real money as a sales professional." If you accept these kinds of realities, it can absolutely prevent you from reaching your full potential.

Before it was discovered that the world was round, it was a well-known "fact" that it was flat, and for all intents and purposes, it was. No one would think to sail around it, because it couldn’t be done, but the whole world changed when a few individuals changed their thinking. Your financial world is exactly the same. Both poverty and wealth exist, yet some people experience one and not the other. What differentiates those who have massive amounts of wealth from those who are completely broke is their thoughts, which determine their focus. According to Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, author of the book Flow: The Psychology of Optimal Experience, we take in approximately two million bits of information per second through our sensory channels. If we were instantaneously aware of all that was happening around us, we would go insane from sensory overload. Therefore, the human nervous system deletes, distorts, and generalizes all of the information into manageable chunk sizes. Out of two million bits of information per second, you only process five to nine chunks. This means that, out of everything that is happening, you experience only a minute amount.

You can compare your experience of reality to surfing the Internet. Consider for a moment the amount of information available on the Web, a tremendous amount. Yet if you type into your search engine the word "poverty," your computer will ignore everything else and sort specifically for anything that meets your search word. In life, it’s the same way: you get what you look for. Think of your focus as being like a flashlight. If you were standing in a dark room with wealth in one corner and poverty in the other, your experience in life would be based upon where you’re pointing your flashlight at any given time. Do you have the flashlight of your focus on wealth, or on poverty?

In his book Rich Dad, Poor Dad, author Robert Kiyosaki states that if you want to become rich, the only thing you need to do is to increase your financial vocabulary. This is true because, in order to increase your financial vocabulary, you have to shift your focus. You will have to begin reading different types of magazines, holding different types of conversations, and so on. Philosopher Ludwig Von Witkenstein once said, "Whereof one cannot speak, one cannot think." People who have wealth and abundance in their lives speak and think differently than those who don’t. The flashlight of their focus is on a different corner of the room.

When you change your focus, you can change your external finances—sometimes even instantaneously. A woman who was searching for answers recently explained to me that she really wanted to go into the school system and teach children how to live up to their full potential. But she told me in the same breath that she had no money at all to follow through on her grand
ideas.

I explained to her that ours is a totally abundant universe. There’s more than 13 trillion dollars circulating around the planet every day, just looking for someone to take care of it. I told her that there were plenty of people who wanted to give her money to support her project. About four weeks after later, I received a call from her. She was extremely excited, and explained to me that she had really taken what I said to heart. She had gone out and found tens of thousands of dollars available to her in grant money to fund her project. Her finances changed instantly the moment she changed her focus.

So the question becomes, "What are some of the things that I can do to change my focus and immediately take charge of my financial destiny?"

One of the first things you can do is to raise the level of importance of money in your life. Many people have the limiting belief that money isn’t important, or a belief that if you focus on money, you are somehow a bad person. These beliefs do nothing but hold you back. There are many wonderful people who do a lot of good for the planet, and who realize the importance of money as a tool for ameliorating their lives and the lives of others. In fact, the more you make, the more you can give back.

When people used to think the world was flat, the old maps of the world showed the "boundary conditions" — the edges of the world — and written all around those boundaries were the words "There Be Dragons." Or the maps would depict people falling off their ships and tumbling over the edge of the world. There weren’t really dragons there, and there weren’t really places where you might fall off the edge of the world. These weren’t the boundaries of the world, but they might as well have been, because they were boundary conditions of people’s thinking at the time.

Consider the beliefs that prevent you from focusing on wealth to be just like the boundary conditions of people’s thinking in Columbus’ time. Now I have a question for you: How satisfying will your life be ten, twenty, or thirty years from now, when you get out into the future and you’ve allowed your beliefs to keep you from living the life you deserve? Maybe now is the time to get some new beliefs about money, convictions that will empower you, such as the belief clearly held by John D. Rockefeller, who once said, "I believe that the power to make money is a gift from God."

When Columbus first set sail, he left knowing that the world was different than all of those around him believed it to be. He was absolutely convinced that he would find a faster route to the riches and spices of the Orient. These beliefs and convictions were the first step to success beyond even his own expectations.

How do you raise the level of importance of money in your life? Decide. Decide that money is important. It’s so important that you’re willing to do everything you can to learn about it: how to manage it, how to invest it, and how to multiply it. Before long, you’ll find yourself holding different conversations with people, reading different types of magazines, and spending your time in ways that enable you to increase your financial intelligence. When you shift your focus, it will be as if you’ve typed the word "wealth" into your search engine. Your experience of life will actually change, and new possibilities will present themselves to you.

A few weeks ago, my fiancée and I decided to purchase a new car, and we got our minds set on a make and model that we saw for the first time just a few days prior to making the decision. We had never noticed that make and model of car before, but the moment we made the decision to purchase it, we began to see the same type of car all over the place. Did the cars appear in circulation once we started looking for them, or were they always there and we just hadn’t noticed before?

Your financial world works in exactly the same way. Financial opportunities only present themselves once you’ve conditioned yourself to look for them. The difference between those who have massive amounts of wealth and those who live in poverty is what they are looking for. Because we often accept the reality we’ve been handed, we end up getting exactly what we expect out of life. This principle is especially true in the area of finances. If you want to make more money, then all you really need to do is change your thinking.

Part-Time Job Versus A Part-Time Business!

Sadly, most people who wind up financially strapped try to find a second job of some kind. Is this the best option? Realistically, to get ahead financially these days what would be the best solution: to get another job, or start your own business? This is a great question anyone interested in financial stability and success should consider. This week, we will look at both of these alternatives.

With a job there exists a linear income arrangement of exchanging time for dollars. Thus, if you get paid $10 an hour and work a 40-hour week, you will earn $400 per week. A part-time job to raise additional income if overtime isn't available at your primary job would work exactly the same. Let's say you work an extra 10 hours per week on a part-time job at the same rate as your full-time job. This would only contribute $100 per week to your total income-right? Let's see. Did you know that when you earn extra income it could possibly put you into a higher tax bracket, which may actually reduce your take home pay? So, what you thought was an extra $100 a week may only turn out to be $70 a week in your pocket, which is only a 17.5% total increase in your income. Keep in mind that most likely you will also be limited in how high that extra income will go for those jobs in the future, because employers will only pay so much for each job.

The other alternative is starting your own part-time business. A big plus here is that from day one you will be entitled to a multitude of 'business' related tax deductions that are not available to employees. Essentially, the government will subsidize your part-time business by a certain amount. For many people, this could result in anywhere from $200 to $400 per month in additional money that they can put into their pockets. Break that down and it is similar to having $50 to $100 extra per week. Next, add to that the additional income amount your part-time business will generate for you. For example, let's say you reach the $500 a month level within a year. The result would be adding $700 to $900 per month in cash flow. At this income level, that would be almost a 50% increase in what you were making originally. AND, there is no 'employer' imposed limit on how much you can earn. It's all up to you.

Was pillar 3 amazing or what? It is interesting to learn that there are Associations out there that can protect you when choosing a company. There is a lot to learn in this industry and it is hard to condense in to a few words in a few letters cast across cyberspace. My wish is, that you find this informative.

There are plans that build wide, wide, wide and only a few levels deep. These are good for those types of people who, like to sell sell sell. Problem with that is that over 90% of the population are sales resistant. They can't stand pushy aggressive sales people.

It destroys the market and confuses the customer on the perceived value of the product.

Marvin D. Krueger, CPA, CMA gave a free seminar for Independent Representatives April 12, 2003 and listed over 50 ways you can document and deduct business expenses from your U.S. Income Taxes, and added 8 generally overlooked other areas.

As the IRS requires written documentation to qualify for the deduction, NOW is the time to start keeping your receipts! Where applicable, I have added a note or two to clarify how to document these expenses.

Here is his list of potential deductions for your business:

Your Account portfolio / Stat-up kit. This is the membership expense that actually starts your business. (Use your Account documents to document, or your canceled check.) In Synergy, there is actually no start-up cost.

Your Sampler Kit. In order to understand and market your company’s unique products, you need to use them yourself. Sampler kits provide you with the most popular products for you to try, and convert your house at the same time. (The company provides receipts for all purchases, keep for tax time.)

Your Monthly Purchases. These purchases, when "required" in order to get a check (no purchase, no check), are tax deductible. As many of the benefits from using products come in the long-term, we must become a "product of our products", the daily/monthly usage does this. Many CPAs confuse this with a Distributorship where you have to buy, inventory, and resell products. In those businesses, your purchases are not deductible. However, when monthly qualifying purchases are destined to the end customer, meaning your own consumption, they can be deducted. (Document these purchases with the packing slip/invoice in each order. Don’t forget the sales tax and shipping is included in this deduction!)

Your Home Office. Create one area in your house to do your Business from. It can be out of a closet, a desk in the corner of a room, a full room, or an office created out of some of your garage space, the only requirement is that it be used exclusively for business. If your desk is in the TV room, you can’t deduct the whole room, just the area that you actually work in. The percentage of the house used for business calculates the part of the following that you can deduct from your taxes: (Document with receipts.)

Rent (if you own your home with the bank, the interest, taxes, etc. are applied elsewhere)
Electrical Bill
Sewer Bill
Insurance (not deductible at all, unless you have a home business!)
Cleaning Service (as long as they clean where your office is too!)
Garbage service
Water Bill
House Repairs
Landscaping (if people come to your house on business)

Training Expenses. (Document with receipts)

Seminars
Books
Cassette / CD programs
Training Conference Calls

Advertising Expenses.

Like company's apparel? If it has the logo, it is an advertising expense.
Giving a gift? If company's product, or company's branded clothes, treat as Advertising.

Reproduction costs (photocopies, etc.).

Labor Expenses paid to your children for Business related work. (Up to $4700 in 2003). Keep track of what is done, and how much paid, pay by check, canceled check is proof. NO SSN OR INCOME TAXES need to be paid on your children!

Mowing Lawn, other Landscaping
Cleaning your office.
Filing.
Computer work (Most kids are better at computers than we are!)
Envelope stuffing/postcard stamping, other mailing tasks.

Business Travel.

Convention
Travel to pre-arranged presentations. (Going to visit your sister? Put an ad in their local paper two-three weeks before, coordinate several appointments, and your trip is deductible (within some limits). Is your wife/husband going? Are they working with you in the business, and will they be at the appointments? Their trip is deductible too!

1. Air fare, train fare, and car mileage.

2. All "fees" related to travel – parking, tolls, security, etc.

3. Meals while on the trip (subject to limitations).

4. Entertainment expenses (subject to some rules and limitations).
Out of area training.

Office Expenses.

Paper clips, printer paper and toner, light bulbs, pens, pencils, highlighters.
White boards, easels, presentation flip charts
Furnishings (Chairs, desks, lamps, carpet, etc.)
Equipment (Computers, printers, fax machines, PDAs, phones, etc.)
Phone bill (If you only have one phone, only the long distance calls related to business, the IRS believes that one line is a ‘necessity’ and will not allow that as a deduction).
Special services on your phone bill (three-way calling, call waiting, voice mail).
Second line used for business. (Document business usage by adding to your business card/stationery.)
Cell Phone. (Document business usage by adding to your business card/stationery)
ISP account and e-mail. (Document business usage by adding to your business card/stationery. Document fees by printing billing from your ISP.)
Data processing costs for business report.
Postage for business mailings.

Business Meals. When you do a presentation at a restaurant/coffee shop, pick up your receipt! This is a deductible expense (50%).

Celebration Expenses. Giving a party to celebrate? Make it a business event. Invite your business associates/prospects and deduct the entire cost! (Make sure you celebrate your business!) Document via receipts and invitation list, have attendees sign a "guest book" to document who attended.

In-home expenses.

Baby Sitters.
Product cases (for carrying display product in/out of house).
Demonstration supplies.
Assistants (read: your children, if old enough).
Food provided (100%).
Snacks/Tea/Coffee/Attain Shakes (100%)

Mileage to/from presentations, training events, product launches, etc. (36¢ per mile this year!) Document with mileage log. Do for three consecutive months, or three like periods, extrapolate totals to full year (multiply by four). IRS requires some sort of logical, written documentation of this. If your day planner does not have a good sheet for this, check out on the web for one, or make your own. It needs date, purpose, start mileage, end mileage, total mileage on the trip, and total mileage for the month. You will also need the year’s start and ending mileage numbers off of your car’s odometer for the tax form.

Now for some "General" tax issues that you should be looking at, if not using:

401K. Usually set up by an employer, often with matching funds. If you have the option, you should be contributing. Start low on the percentage scale and move up with each raise (add 1% to your contribution). Your contribution is not taxed until you take it out, and if your company is matching a percentage of your contribution, you are almost guaranteed to come out ahead!

College Tuition Deduction. With some income limitations, allows up to $3,000 deduction for college tuition in 2002 and 2003, $4,000 in 2004 and 2005. Expires at the end of 2005, and cannot be taken in the same year, for the same student as the Hope or Lifetime Learning Credits (below).

Hope Credit. Designed to help pay for the first two years of college for yourself or your children. 100% of the first $1,000 and 50% of the next $1,000, for a total credit potential of $2,500! Student must be enrolled at least halftime, and in a program leading to a recognized credential or degree.

Lifetime Learning Credit. Covers up to 20% of the first $5,000 spent on updating or learning a new job skill. Maximum credit per year of $1,000 per family (Husband/wife).

Car Lease. Look at the lease/purchase decision VERY carefully! Usually the lease option is best for those that do not drive a lot, because the lease penalties for going over the anticipated mileage are very severe. (We have a friend who parked his leased car for a year to get the mileage back into the lease zone, and he still had to pay the lease and insurance on the car!)

Want to help your grandchildren who don’t live with you? Set up a Coverdale Education Savings Account for them. You can contribute up to $2,000 per year, and the money can be used for college or qualified Kindergarten – 12th grade expenses also (read that "Private School". Also check out your State and Federal "Section 529" savings plans.

If you’re concerned about Capital Gains on the sale of your home. Don’t take the depreciation part of the Home Office Deduction. Up to $500,000 of the Captial Gains is fully tax sheltered, if you have lived in the house for at least 2 years.

Staying at a Friend’s house while on business? Give them a gift in return, and deduct the amount as lodging for the trip. Cash or product are both OK (of course, I always give a gift of my company's products, especially if they are not yet customers, it breeds interest! Limitation: Cannot exceed the cost of average hotel room in the area. (You can get the government’s idea of "average" for an area by searching for the US Government "per diem" rates on the Internet).

Taxes are a VERY complex issue, and no widespread communication like this would be complete without the "boiler plate" disclaimer:

Finally, YOU know your personal situation better than anyone will from a 45-minute interview at tax time. I would highly suggest that you purchase a copy of TurboTax or its equivalent and prepare your own taxes, for submission, or for organizing yourself before visiting your tax professional for the final "tweaks" and areas the program does not cover. It will save you LOTS of money, either way, and is tax deductible to boot.

I learned of the Hope Credit through the tax program: $325 credit. (1,000% return on the TurboTax investment!)

If you have your taxes "done" each year by a professional, the time spent organizing your paperwork for a computer tax program will:

Reduce your fees, because the accountant will save time by not having to organize them for you.
Raise your knowledge level so you can give your accountant all he/she needs to qualify you for ALL the deductions you deserve.
Allow you to better evaluate your accountant’s services, as they relate to your situation.
Improve your filing system to reduce your time and fees even more for next year!

Linear Income Vs. Residual Income

I would like to start by discussing the most powerful way that I have found to secure ones financial future. The key to doing this is to understand the difference between linear and residual income. I promise you that as you read this article it could very well change not only the way you think but your entire life.

The First thing I want to do is to invite you to be an ‘open-minded skeptic’. What I mean by this is open-minded enough to want to learn and grow with this new knowledge, however be skeptical enough to try to get the facts before you make any decisions. I’m going to start by simply sharing a few vital statistics that just may have you rethink about what you do to earn a living. And just to get started on the right note. It’s not my purpose to bore you with all these details however I think they are very important for the purpose of this discussion. So here we go! Did you know that 95% of our population is retiring broke? Did you know that today only 1 of 10 college graduates works in the field they studied? Did you also know that the average person in this country is only two paychecks away from bankruptcy! And, last but not least, did you know that the average household in this country has two full-time and one part-time job just to pay their bills. Does this describe you or somebody you know?

Have you ever taken the time to engineer (plan) your financial future? As you can see from the statistics above most of us don’t! Do you anticipate your financial future with certainty or with uncertainty? Where do you see yourself in 10 years or 20 years, or better yet, at retirement? Do you do what you do to earn a living - because you love it, Or because you need to make money to pay the bills? Do you find yourself just making enough money so you don’t quit and working just hard enough so you don’t get fired? How do you feel most people would answer this question? Does your job allow you to make a positive difference in people’s lives?

The answer for me 13 years ago was, “No”! You see, 13 years ago I found I had very little of what I expected of myself when it came to money and I didn’t feel that I was making much of a difference in peoples lives. I don’t ever remember much appreciation from any of my employers. My life has had many divergent pathways in trying to create that self worth and to secure my financial future for my family. I started this future in the Insurance Industry. However after six months the company I worked for felt our state was unprofitable and pulled out. Many of us were left unemployed and looking for work.

In order to earn a living I got a job with a national hotel chain I lived paycheck to paycheck. I took every opportunity to work overtime so I’d have those little extras. But I knew that if I continued doing what I was doing, financial pain was almost certain in my near future. So I started looking for options for personal growth and security. The reason you are reading this article today is because I found one of the only options in these very difficult economic times for an average person to change the quality of his or her life forever! I can say this boldly because I am now living the Perfect Life and enjoy it with my lovely wife Jill and also my 5 wonderful children.

Before I mention it, let’s look and document our current economic system. No matter how far we feel we’ve progressed, business remains a political game. It is influenced by your education, sex, color, physical appearance, nationality, health, religion; the list goes on and on.

In truth, would your life really be better if you spent many years reaching the highest level of your company? Sure, you’d have more money and prestige. But at what cost? You’ve heard about the hours, the pressures. And those people’s real wealth isn’t really that much greater because their expenses went up with their status. Companies operate on sales revenues less expenses; fewer expenses mean more profits. Your paycheck is an expense. Smart businesses keep their expenses small. Your job is to get them to increase their expenses - that is, to give you a raise. After your company has paid you for your time, how much money do they actually owe you? Zero! If you work for the company for fifteen years, after they’ve paid you for that final week, the company still owes you zero. You have been paid.

What if you were to work five years and the company would pay you ongoing income from then on? Not a half-pay retirement plan.

If I were to give you a choice, which sounds better? Working 40 hours a week for 40 years or 20 hours a week for 5 years. Spending your day at your job doing what they tell you to do; or doing what you want to do, when you want to do it! Getting your paycheck and hoping you’ll have something left over after you pay your bills - or having more money then you could spend. Can you choose now or should I get back to you on these decisions?!

Here’s your choice - increase your income, or reduce your spending. Work overtime. Get a second job. Cut your current standard of living. You know, you could put your spouse to work. Oh, you’re already a two-income family? Have kids? You can put them to work. Here’s one for you. Do you realize that raising one child from birth through college is now estimated to cost over $200,000?

We have one of the lowest-saving ratios among all countries. We earn but don’t save and invest the way we should. Why? Two reasons: 1- because we simply don’t have the disposable income. And secondly, I’m not sure that most of us have the discipline either. We find ourselves charging more and more - so we can have things now! We don’t think about what it’s doing to our financial futures, or to us as a nation.

You are constantly hearing of the growing gap between the rich and the poor. And I don’t see it improving any time soon. In order to be more competitive, many companies continue to eliminate expensive employees and to replace them with new technology and lower paid employees. There is a risk factor of job insecurity that should really concern you. I know I was concerned enough about it that I was considering other ways to earn income.

With only a little study it was obvious that I would be smart to leverage my time and efforts. Think of an author, or songwriter. They write something once and they receive payments for many years. Insurance agents often sell a policy and earn renewal fees for many years to come. This is known as residual income!

Currently, you’re probably exchanging units of time for units of dollars. This is working the 40/40 plan. 40 hours per week, for 40 years - which equals approximately 83,000 working hours in one’s lifetime for an average $1000 per month retirement. It’s been true for 95% of the people in this country. This is known as linear income.

You know some of you may get excited about the possibility to choose to work very hard for 2 to 5 years for lets say 20 to 40 hours a week and have a real chance to secure your financial future. Would it surprise you to know that a business exists today that could pay you as much as $100,000 per year for a few years of hard work? It even gets better, it could pay you this amount over and over again for your lifetime ! All for the efforts of today.

Which source of Income makes more sense to you? The difficulty is that you and I are used to getting paychecks every week. We’ve grown up in the conventional system, which says: Get a good education, find a job, work hard, and improve your position...and someday you’ll retire and the company will take care of you. If you haven’t figure it out yet it just doesn’t work.

So what is this perfect business that I’m talking about? Well first of all lets clarify what the perfect business should have! Lets start with equity in your own company with no liability or employees. No pay-role or bookkeeping and you get to be in control. Last it must pay you residual income. Is there a business today that can do all of that? There is and it’s called Network Marketing. And yes I know how some of you may feel about this business concept –it hasn’t worked for you. And you know what? I felt the same way a few years ago. But you know what I did too! (Make a million and it will change your mind!) But, now, having been educated on the whole concept and getting all the facts about the network marketing industry. I now believe it to be the most powerful way of doing business today. The first thing you should try to understand is that we’re in a new era of network marketing. Some people call it the business of the 21st century. Let me say it is now accepted today as a mainstream business in most countries around the world. This industry has made many improvements since its pioneering stage - 60 years ago. In fact, just in the last five years network marketing has made its biggest movement in assuring that everybody has an equal playing field. Many of these new innovations require us to re-think much of what we’ve thought about network marketing. One of the most promising changes is the way that compensation is distributed to its representatives. Network Marketing has come a long way to assure its strong existence in the 21st century. There is a concept in business called a paradigm shift – thinking outside the box. And that’s what is happening in the network marketing industry. You may know that United States has become the biggest debtor nation on earth. We had almost no debt in 1950 except cars and houses. By 1951 there were 50,000 credit cards. Typically it then will be shipped to a national distribution center then to a regional distributor then to a local distributor and finally to the retail stores. This is where we the consumer typically purchase the product. Now, following this flow chart of goods it’s interesting to find out where the cost of the product is incurred. You will find that typically 25% of this cost is incurred at the manufacture and the other 75% for the necessity of the different means of distribution. What if we were to restructure the way we traditionally do business and reallocate that 75% to satisfied customers. Who better to advertise then a satisfied customer? Say a manufacturer ships the product to the consumer directly. And what if this manufacturing company paid the customers commissions for their word of mouth advertising, each part getting a percentage of everything that is sold because of the initial referral. This is called network marketing.

It’s called network marketing because if you get involved and you believe in the products or services, you naturally tell other people. In other words you’re networking. Some of your customers will tell their family, friends and business colleagues. You make a small percentage on the people you directly told, and the people who buy from them and so on. Remember, the company is happy to share with you a little of the profits because without your efforts they wouldn’t have these customers. Everyone knows that word of mouth, people telling people, is the best advertising. Every month when your customers buy - and those that came in due to your team’s efforts - you earn an On-going, residual income.

Now, here’s the difference between the traditional system and network marketing. Traditional retailers will never pay you residual income. If you send someone to a movie, restaurant, good book, auto dealership, cleaners or any other traditional business - there’s no compensation. At best, they’ll reward your loyalty by giving you a frequent buyer bonus. But they won’t pay you for referral business.

Under the traditional system you’ll labor 40 years. You work a week and get paid for that week. If you don’t work, you don’t get paid. If you reach retirement, the traditional system will give you 50 to 60% of what you struggle to live on now. The problem is that the traditional system is trying to get rid of people before they reach retirement because it can no longer afford to pay people for work they are no longer doing. I have heard a shocking statistic that only 2% of us are now expected to reach our full pension.

Many of you know the story of the doubling penny. Network Marketing is like this. Say you consult with me on a business deal that will put you to work for me for 31 days and I’m willing to give you a choice on payment. One million dollars, OR, I will give you a penny that will double each and every day after day one. Now which would you pick? Most people would pick the one million dollars. That’s traditional thinking. Network marketing thinking shows a slow, steady growth. But in the beginning, it is a lot of hard work for very little.

If you persisted, on Day 31 you would get a check for almost ten million dollars.
Now reminder you did the same work.

The only difference is traditional versus non- traditional thinking.

Let me give you another example. If you represent a product that makes you $3 per month per person in your organization, and if you work real hard you could probably get one person in a month that would use your product.

At the end of the month you would have:
1 person = 3 buck

Now if you work real hard and you teach your customer to go out and find one customer for himself or herself and you find another customer for yourself. At the end of the second month you have:
Your first customer and their customer plus your new customer, you have
3 people, thus $9.

You do it again next month. You teach your people to teach and recruit. Another month passes. Your three have become six and you added one more.
7 people, $21

Month four. 14 plus 1 is 15 people, you made $45.

Month five. Work REAL HARD. 15 become 30 plus your new customer. You have
31 people and $93.
Now most people drop out here. It’s too bad. Its too much work - compared to the traditional system.
Month six, 65 people. Month seven, 130 people. Month eight, 260. Month nine, 520. Month ten, 1040. Month eleven is 2,080 and month twelve you have:

5,020 people making you an extra $15,060 per month - part time!

Now you understand the power of network marketing. It never works out that smoothly in reality. But you get the concept. Leverage duplicated by time creates wealth. Some of your people in your organization are going to drop out. Some will do nothing. And some may break records and sponsor 20 people personally. The key is. If you persist and you don’t quit, you will succeed.

The two biggest objections are usually time or money. The irony is that the people that are short of either time or money should be the best candidates for this business. I have heard every excuse why not to do a business like this, but the thing is, you REALLY only need ONE (1) reason why YOU SHOULD. Let me ask you a question. What are you doing so great in your life that you couldn’t do a business like this? I really want you to think about that!

Look at this: If you work a 50-hour week, 40 hours on your full-time job – 10 hours on a
Part-time, and you eventually add 100 people who are doing 10 hours per week, reaching their dreams through your networking business, you are in effect working 1,050 hours per week! Now, isn’t that a better use of your time? Imagine what that would mean for you monetarily.

“But, I don’t have enough money to get started.” So, who needs this business more than you do?! Retail a few products. Someone will want what you have to sell. Get a check. Buy the products. Put that money back into your business for supplies, CD’s or literature. Build slowly. Build solid. The tragedy is that the traditional system creates a shortage of money. It never gives you residual income. Network marketing creates an abundance of money. The traditional retirement dies when you die. Your network marketing business is inheritable. The traditional economy pushes workers to use credit. Network marketing gives them the means to buy with cash.

You can make money in the traditional system. But why not start your own business? Build equity in yourself and not someone else’s company. You may already own a business. Or, it may really own you? Here are the five main reasons why people say they don’t start their own:

Money. Traditional businesses cost a fortune to start. People want to start them because they want more money. Who wouldn’t like to benefit from owning a Burger King or a Wal-Mart, a phone company, Movie Theater, car dealership, a bank, an insurance company, etcetera? People want the rewards, so some do invest. But the majority of people can’t afford that kind of investment. Plus, if you start your own business, there is often no profit for two to five years. With network marketing, start-up is usually under $500 and you have the potential to pick up a paycheck larger than many Fortune 500 CEOs.

Time. Owning your own business often requires 40 to 80 hours a week, with most owners reporting the high end of that scale. Multi-level marketing requires 6 to 20 hours per week and can be started part-time.

Risk. With a traditional business, you place a great deal of your time and money at risk. With networking, you risk small amounts of money and can begin part-time until you double or triple your current salary.

Don’t know how to run a business. With a traditional company, that is the second major reason for failure (second only to lack of investment capital needed to survive until the profits roll in). If you don’t know how to run a business, you shouldn’t start one. With a referral marketing business, the main company does the major bookkeeping, has a legal staff, manufactures products, does the shipping, provides customer service, warehouses inventory and does research and development. You just refer people to them and you train your people to do the same.

If you still think network marketing is something strange or illegal, you’d be wise to do some quick study. The concept of network marketing is 60 years old and is attracting companies like Coca-Cola, Remington, Gillette, MCI, Sprint, NBTY, Colgate-Palmolive, and many, many more. It is taught in major colleges and universities. There have been favorable articles in the Wall Street Journal, Success Magazine, and more. Just recently while staring on the David Letterman show. Donald Trump was asked this question. If you lost all of your money what would you do? He simply replied, “network marketing”. Direct sales have now passed $100 billion and there is an estimated 5.7 million Americans in network marketing today. It’s growing at 30% per year. By the year 2005, network marketing is expected to surpass franchising.

Here’s the real test of whether network marketing is for you: Wouldn’t you rather work harder for a short period of time so you would eventually never work hard again? If this describes your ideal situation, then network marketing is just what you’ve been looking for. And on the other hand for those of you that have not warmed up to the concept of network marketing. If you keep doing what you’re now doing, do you honestly feel your situation is ever going to change? You know I once heard somebody tell me the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result.

Ask people who’ve been successful in network marketing and almost every one of them will tell you that they didn’t want to do it at first. They had to warm up to the idea. Some tried it and wanted to quit. Some even quit two or three times. But in the long run, they realized that there was nothing out there that would offer them the advantages that network marketing did.

So, what’s your choice? If you need more time or money - overtime? Hey, it may not be available. A second job, which doesn’t pay you as well as your first. Both of these eat up your time, and don’t build residual income, offer little chance for recognition or promotion, and provide poor opportunities to be with other people who are looking to advance themselves.

Ok, so those are a few examples of why the traditional economic system is no longer working and, in truth, you’re already in network marketing - every time you talk about books, movies, restaurants or other things you find valuable - I’ve recommended all of these. My friends have used them. They’ve recommended those to their friends. But I never got a nickel!

So find a Network Marketing company with products or services you believe in. I did! The rest is simple. Just don’t quit. That’s it. Buy your products, tell your story, and don’t give up. Its simple - but its not easy. This won’t happen overnight. If you look at your checks after six months, you may want to quit. It is a sad irony - people who make it through these difficult periods and reach the top often tell of magnificent people who helped them that were signed up by someone who quit. Had those people stuck it out, they would have reached the top also.

So why do people quit? Unrealistic expectations. Too many people think network marketing equals Get Rich Quick. It doesn’t. The thing I’ve seen most often is that people get excited, sign up, the excitement turns into a lack of understanding and they do nothing and they quit often blaming the company rather than admitting to their own poor performance.

Let me sum this up for you. In a recent survey over 85% of the people interviewed didn’t like their jobs and approximately 80% of Americans don’t make $30,000 a year.

If you think you can become financially independent someone else you’re deceiving yourself. It doesn’t happen to people often enough to even be a significant statistical probability. There’s almost no chance.
I perceive the worst problem with Network marketing is “easy in, easy out”. It’s just too easy to quit because of the low start-up cost. If people had to invest a half a million dollars to get in, quitting would never be an option. Failing is not an option. Wouldn’t it be something if you only had to invest a few hundred dollars to get started but treated it as if you would lose a million! Would you quit then so easily? There are only two reasons why people fail in this business. They don’t do anything, and they quit.

There’s a famous story of an airline pilot. He got into network marketing, just so he could buy the products at the wholesale cost. He refused to try to get people involved. He felt it was undignified for a person in his position to recruit. Occasionally, someone would find out that he was buying wholesale. They’d have to beg and plead to make him tell them how. Reluctantly, he would tell them. Well, 20 years later, when he retired as a pilot, he was making more from his Network marketing business than he was from his retirement.

You see, people are like the old hound. A man asked the owner, “Why is your dog lying there moaning and groaning?” The man stopped his whittling and looked down. Cause he’s laying on a nail. “Oh, well, why doesn’t he move?” asked the observer. Cause it doesn’t hurt enough to move. It’s just uncomfortable enough to make him whine.

Is that you? Are you uncomfortable enough to complain about your life? Or are you realizing that its time for you to take action. If you’re ready, network marketing is an answer. The system is in place. The worldwide acceptance is growing.

Most of us live in denial, pretending that it’s going to get better next year. And I don’t care if you’re a doctor, lawyer, CPA, pilot, engineer, CEO, or anyone else who now makes $100,000 a year. You’ll live with the same percentages.

See, most people are going broke slowly and they just don’t notice it. They put in all those years in school, or all those years building a traditional business. It’s hard for them to admit that there might be something better. One measure? If you can’t do it in 40 hours a week - you’re doing it wrong!

A network-marketing executive told this story. She saw an old friend one-day. She’d tried to recruit him years before. But he’d made fun of her. Even this day, he laughed. “You still in network marketing?” She called out in disbelief, “Are you still working?” He walked away stunned.

This is the most misunderstood business in history. But make no apologies for joining this industry. Listen carefully to these benefits:

* Low start-up, so anyone can get in - unlike McDonald’s, Subway, KFC or any traditional business.
* Unlimited income. There is no ceiling.
* Income security if you’ve built a solid residual income.
* If you pass away, your family inherits it.
* No favorites. Each person is truly equal. Sex, color, religion or nationality is not important.
* There’s personal and business recognition. An average person can rise to management.
* There are several ways to build the business.
* There’s no educational requirement. Top executives are all people who have all worked the business.
* There’s no forced retirement.
* Equal pay for men and women. Absolute equality.
* Companies provide complete training.
* Husbands and wives are encouraged to work together.
* There are no set hours.
* It’s a cash business. No credit for you to worry about.
* No territorial limits. Travel the world building the business.
* Government regulations, legal, research & development and quality control are handled by the parent company.

Free market economies feed themselves better than any other system on earth. Companies tend to be financially strong because it is a cash business. Ever heard of a strike in the MLM industry? There could be shared advertising. You’ll associate with a caring and giving group of mostly up-beat people. Buy your products wholesale. Have Fun! Think of it as a no boss, or you’re-the-boss, business. Rewards are based on what you do. Work when you want. Vacation when you want. Serve other people by helping them improve their circumstances. Meet new people and like-minded people. Work with whom you want and teach these people to feel good about themselves.

When the economy gets bad, this business often picks up because ambitious people are always looking for ways to make more money. Network Marketing is a low-risk, yet time and money-leveraged business. Networking friends become an extended family. Networking is a self-improvement business. Everyone gets better if they stay in. People who make more money and enjoy more free time tend to be less shy, speak publicly more easily, and you’ll quite often hear people say that they are more confident.

Most successful people in this business are positive and motivated. Some are lazy, but persistent. It makes no difference what your basic personality is, it only requires activity. Having a good attitude may help, but is not enough to make you successful – TAKING ACTION WILL!

Currently, your traditional business tells you who to work with, what you can make, when you can take your vacations and your lunches, when you have to be at work, when you can leave. Your business actually tells you what you can or can’t buy because of your salary.

Or, now you can choose network marketing. The bottom line there is freedom. Free to get up when you want, go where you want, buy what you want, do what you want, when you want. Stay as long as you want, save as much as you want, work when you want, leave when you want, and vacation when you want, spend more time with your children if you want. Spend as much money as you want, buy the home that you want, spend as much time and money on your hobbies as you want. Spend time with whom you want. You can contribute generously to your favorite charities. Freedom to pay off your debts and pay cash for everything else from now on.

Now let me share some simply truths about network marketing that will help you select the right company. Here they are! First, pick a product that isn’t gender biased. What I mean by this is there are products that only excite women and on the flip side there are products that only excite men. Find a product that is marketable to everybody. Don’t limit yourself to who will buy your product. Second, you must market small ticket consumable products. You will depend on the re-orders for your long-term success. Third, Brand Loyalty is the most important element of your product line. Is your product unique enough and does it promote quality factors that people can trust. Fourth, stay away from pricing wars, someone will always under cut your prices.

The absolute most important ‘character quality’ to succeed in network marketing is persistence. If you give up, it’s over. If you’re committed, no matter how long it takes, you will succeed. It does take time, and work. Hold to the thought that you can do it. Know that there will be ups and downs. DON’T GIVE UP!

Here’s the last word. Do you want to stay only in a traditional business? Or, do you want to get paid for doing network marketing? Do you want to keep doing things the way things always have been, or can you see the way things could be. Honestly, doesn’t it seem that the traditional system is not meeting people’s needs? In this industry, you cannot fail. You can quit – but you cannot fail.

Buy your products, tell your story, stay active - and you’ll feel great as you are improving your lifestyle. Network marketing was the answer for me, do you think maybe it’s the answer for you to. Take this information and find the right company that gets you excited and stick with it and will see you at the top.

Some people have no hope of success in themselves. Their mindset from the start is self-defeated before they can even get going. They live in a world of cost, but no investment, of payment, but no pay-off.

Typically, this kind of person will sit and count their losses before even getting in the game. In fact, they won't get in the game, because they've already calculated how much they'll lose. In other words, they have no hope of success in themselves.

They would love to be rich, but they will not take risks. They would love to hit it big, but they will not take the gamble. They would love to have burgeoning residual income to retire early on, but they will not stake their reputation on anything. In other words, they have no hope of success within themselves.

Would you pay $15, $30, or $100 or more, if you knew you were going to get back twice as much? Seems reasonable and sensible to do so. Yet, what is it in a person's mind that makes them think they can't double their money? What is it that makes a person have the expectation of failure, but not the hope of success?

Logically, one could sit down and say, "Well, I see there is a very reasonable minimum production that I will have to perform, in order to double my money. After that, all else will be pure mounting income." But, without the hope of success in themselves, they can't think logically.

It is fear that de-motivates them. They fear both failure and success. If they should fail, then they have suffered what fear told them about losing their money. If they should succeed, then who would they become, in the fear of the unknown?

"Our doubts are traitors, and make us lose the good we oft might win, by fearing to attempt," said Shakespeare and I believe that with all my heart. Without the hope of success we're forever stuck on first base, because we'll take no chance to get to second.

Do you want to succeed? Do you really?

Take risks! Stick to a thing! Work it through! Be willing to change your methods until they work! Stop taking the quitters way out! Do more than nothing! Go faster than slow!

How many times can you try a thing before you succeed? Doesn't success seem inevitable to you, if you will only change your behavior to conform to what works? Don't you have the hope of success in you?

Part 2 - How the Happiest People I Know Earn Enough to Live Their Dreams - by Mark Joyner

As you discovered in Part I, we basically all have the same dream: get enough money so we can have enough freedom to live our lives the way we want.

And we've all been fed the same line of BS about how to do it.

To recap - here is the hard truth:

1. "Being the boss" is not what it's cracked up to be. Remember, you are the toughest boss you'll ever have.

2. "Selling your own product" is not the only way to make real money. In fact if you sell a product of your own, you may in fact gross more money in overall sales, but your overhead will be much higher (overhead = hard costs + stress).

Remember, it's not about "grossing" a large dollar figure - it's about earning enough to get the freedom you need to live your dream. So easily we forget that ...

3. Having employees does not make your life easier. I love and respect every employee I now have or have ever had, but as my team grew larger so did my stress. Ask anyone else with employees ... If they tell you that having employees has made their life easier, ask them if the number of hours they've had to work has changed. If they are honest, they will most likely tell you that they are working more hours after hiring people. "So, what are you telling me, Mark? To get a job?"

Well, yes and no ... (more on that in a minute)

I'm about to show you a path - a path that will allow you to achieve that dream as long as you're willing to accept that it will take a healthy dose of honesty, common sense, and hard work.

To understand the path, you have to understand the goal. The goal is to achieve freedom and happiness, right?

To achieve that for yourself, why not model people who are truly free and happy?

Our Model: The Happiest People I Have Ever Met

The truth is, after being in business for nearly a
decade, I've found the happiest people I've worked
with were people successfully promoting products for
other companies.

Who am I talking about?

I'm talking about successful:

a. Network Marketers

b. Investors

These are the "free-agents". These are the guys who
have mastered the art of promoting and selling products
for network marketing companies (or leveraging invested
money) to the point that they have quit their day jobs.

They create their own schedules.

They don't have business overhead.

They work as much as they like.

(But an interesting note is: most work a lot because
they know the more they work, the more they will make.
However, none seem to mind it at all. They enjoy it.
Funny how working without stress on your own terms
doesn't seem like work anymore. They know they can

The problem is, it takes time to reach this "free-agent" status.

There are a number of things you have to do first (hint: the path starts here):

1. Start from a position of stability (financial, physical, and mental).

If you quit your job today and think you're going to become a "free-agent" overnight you're wrong.

You need to be able to operate from a position of stability so that you can build yourself up to this status without any sense of desperation. If you're desperate, people will know and they won't want to do business with you.

You need to maintain your physical, mental, and financial health. If you have a job now, keep it.

If you're in a desperate situation right now, accept it and know that it will take time to get out of it. Get yourself stabilized first, before moving on.

Take care of your body and learn how to deal with stress.

Either way, move on to step 2, no matter what ...

2. Stop the bleeding.

Get your spending habits under control. If you can't afford your current lifestyle, downgrade a bit. Swallow your pride. Getting deeper in debt because you think your friends won't respect you unless you own a Lexus is not the path to freedom.

3. Wait ...

I'm not going to show you Step 3 yet. Don't worry, I'm not going to hit you up with some sales pitch.

Tell me if this sounds familiar to you:

Step 1: You decide you're sick of your job.

You're tired of waking up every morning to do something you don't enjoy.

You're tired of being mistreated.

You're tired of being a slave.

You're tired.

You realize it will take you years to get the money you need to live your dreams.

When I decided to go into business for myself my motivations were very much the same. Army pay, even as an officer, wasn't so great ...

Step 2: You decide "enough is enough". You look for other options.

Maybe you can go into business for yourself? There has to be a better way, right?

You start doing research and you're overwhelmed with the options. You decide, though, that it's better to work for yourself than someone else, so you know that one way or another you will quit your "day job".

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Big Lie #1:
"Be your own boss and your life will be easier."

There is a truer saying that goes, "the toughest boss you'll ever have is yourself."

Working for yourself has a tremendous amount of uncertainty, and requires a tremendous amount of effort.

It can be rewarding, but it's all up to you at this point. Most self-employed people I know work more hours - not less. The one nice thing you can't deny, though, is that it does put you in control of your destiny (but only if you avoid the following pitfalls!).

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Step 3: You make the big choice: start your own business or participate in an opportunity (franchise, affiliate, etc ...)

Like most people, you probably went the easy route first. You started promoting a business opportunity, or maybe even several of them ...

You spent a heap of money on books and tools. You worked late into the night. You neglected your social life ("Hey, I'm pursuing my dream - my life can wait.")

And in the end for what?

After a few months you do the math ... If you had put the same hours into overtime at your job you would have made more money ...

And then someone tells you the "big secret": "the only way to make money is to sell your own product!"

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Big Lie #2:
"The only way to make real money is to sell your own product."

Well, you may *gross* more money ... but you probably won't make more money.

The cost of running a business, even when you are the only employee, can be quite high.

At our peak of 40 employees, Aesop.com (and all of our subsidiaries) cost $250,000 per month to operate!

Even when you're doing millions of dollars per year in business, you may not end up with much at the end of the day ...

Step 4: You go into business for yourself.

You're now totally in control.

The money goes straight to you and you're happy. When you get those first few sales you're fired up!

At the end of the first couple months, though, you realize that your business is getting out of control. There is too much to do and you're now sleeping even less than before.

Someone tells you: "Why do all the work yourself? Hire some employees and let them do the work!"

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Big Lie #3:
"Just hire some employees and you can kick back while they do the work."

I can assure you that anyone who gives that advice doesn't have any employees of their own. It's a great theory, but in reality it doesn't end up that way.

Looking back on it, there is not one day that I've had to work less because of the people in my employ.

No offense to them ... I've had some great employees - some of them were superb. But ultimately (and ironically) my life was never easier as a result.

In fact, I don't think I've worked less than 12 hours a day (usually more like 16 hours) in the last several years ... And that's almost every single day - including weekends.

Now, I did have my staff develop some pretty amazing systems to automate our business and that helped tremendously. My problem was that we kept growing and building. If anything, we should have used the automation to its fullest and kept things simple.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Step 5: Where the heck are you now?

Now you're working more hours, your life is more complex than ever before, you experience stress every moment you're awake and when you sleep you don't really rest - you toss and turn every night worrying about business "issues" (but we're so brainwashed into believing running a business is our key to happiness that we call them "issues" instead of "problems").

Does that sound like you?

Of course it does. This is the story I hear from almost every business owner I know. There are a few exceptions who have used a skillful combination of automation and outsourcing, but the vast majority have relived the above story to one degree or another.

I personally lost track of my own dream along the way ... I started down my entrepreneurial path to get personal freedom, but I ended up losing freedom rather than gaining it.

"Freedom to do what," you ask?

Well, I don't even have to tell you what my dream is ... You know what I mean because you have your own dream. It's what got you walking down this path to begin with.

Maybe you wanted to buy a boat and live on the water ...

Maybe you wanted to go back to school ...

Maybe you wanted to be an artist ...

Maybe you just wanted to have more time to spend with your children ...

But it all went back to money, didn't it? You didn't have enough money or time to pursue this dream, so you got into business - thinking that it would take your troubles away.

Instead you woke up one day and realized that you weren't living your dream at all. In fact, your life had become much, much harder.

Is There an Answer?

In Part II I'll tell you about how I'm addressing this problem in my own life.

I'll show you my theory and what I believe to be a great solution to this problem.

Let me tell you right now, though - if you're looking for an answer that won't take any time and effort on your part, you won't hear that from me. Such a thing doesn't exist.

What I will show you, though, is a path that will allow you to set up income streams that will give you a certain amount of freedom.

It's a realistic plan that definitely works.

A wise man once defined success as a refined study of the obvious. How true. Most of what we need to know, say, and do to achieve mastery in Network Marketing could be easily taught—and understood—by a 12 year-old.

Why then are we making this business so difficult?

Let's agree to start teaching The Seven Truths of Network Marketing to those who actually want to create their own destiny, and leave the rest of the world alone. After all, we're involved in a great industry, with wonderful people, offering unprecedented opportunity. And we should be proud to speak the truth...

1) Network Marketing is a business.
Networking is a unique form of enterprise, and you've got to understand the game you're playing. Therefore, mentally consume every page of your distributor manual, online or the day it arrives. Listen to your audio and training programs again, and again, and again. Like a song on the radio, you master the words by hearing the music one more time.

2) Freedom by the numbers.
Understand the numbers, and your compensation plan. Start by involving three to five people—whatever number of legs and leaders your plan dictates—and go to work. By your fifth year, the commissions paid on your invested efforts could well equal a mid six-figure annual income. After that, the sky's the limit.

3) Attend every live event.

The weekly presentation is part of the process. You need to be in attendance every week—to see the presentation again. Remember the music? You need the association, and the environment to showcase your company for your prospects True, not everyone attending every meeting earns $10,000 a month. However, everyone earning $10,000 a month attends every meeting. Now that's a refined study of the obvious.

4) Work only one company.
Leaders understand this truth, because no man or woman can serve two masters.

5) Have a compelling written "Why?"
Success in Network Marketing is 20% how to, and 80% why to... The best part is, if your reasons are strong enough, you'll learn everything you need to know along your journey.

6) Invest in yourself first.
Some people are still trying to earn an exceptional wage, using an ordinary education. It can't be done. If you want to earn more, you've got to learn more. Therefore, read all the books, attend all the classes and learn everything you possibly can.

7) Decide in writing you'll be here a year from now.
Long-term written goals possess the power to pull you right to the top of your company. Put your dreams for your future on paper, and begin building your life of magnificence.

"Run Toward Your Fears"

This is the last article in a series answering the question, "How do we overcome our fears?"

Ralph Waldo Emerson said, "Fear defeats more people than any other one thing in the world."

If I can help you to learn how to overcome the fears that defeat you and hold you back from the success and abundance that you deserve, then I will have done my job.

We learned in the first two articles, that in order to proactively rid yourself of your fears, you need to remove the "three ignorances" that cause your fears.

The first ignorance to overcome is "not knowing enough about the thing you fear." We naturally fear the unknown. However, instead of letting the unknown paralyze us, we can use it to direct our learning. Our proactive mantra is, "You can learn anything you need to know to remove any fear."

The second ignorance to overcome is "not knowing how to control the thing you fear." Emerson said, "Do the thing you fear and the death of fear is certain." When you hear yourself saying, "But I've never done that before," your proactive response should be, "There is always the first time."

Now, the third ignorance to overcome is "not knowing what motivates you to rid yourself of your fears."

Every achievement starts with some type of motivation. You can accomplish anything so long as you have enough reasons for why you should. There is a lot of truth in the old saying, "Where there is a will, there is a way."

We are all motivated in different ways.

How are you motivated?

While you are thinking about that question, let me tell you a story about a chipmunk that overcame its fear.

My daughter and I were sitting on the front steps cooling down and talking after an early morning run, when suddenly, a chipmunk came scampering toward us and zoomed into the flowerbed at our feet. That was very unusual I thought. Chipmunks are usually running away from us.

What made it do that? What motivated that little chipmunk to scamper toward people whom it feared?

As suddenly, a fox came bounding out of the bushes, just moments behind the chipmunk.

Aha! A fox had motivated that little chipmunk to run toward us. Although it normally feared people, it recognized the advantage of overcoming its fear. Upon seeing us, the fox stopped in its tracks, then turned around and slunk back into the bushes.

Now back to the question.

Whatever it is that motivates you, USE IT!

If you are motivated by moving toward a reward, then find the best reward and use it to slay your fears. Is it competition? Then find a competitor and run like the wind. Is it love? Then learn how to use the energy of that love to help you overpower your fear.

Some people are motivated by moving away from a penalty, like the chipmunk running from the fox. My daughter says that is why she likes an audience. Not wanting to look bad in front of them really motivates her to do her best. Some people need strict deadlines to motive them.

If you need a fox chasing you, then find a fox and let it chase you until you have leaped past your fear.

You must learn what motivates you to take action. Then, use it to help rid yourself of your fears.

The best motivator is your definite major purpose.

Working toward your major purpose gives you a passion for what you do. When work becomes its own reward, success is sure to follow. It gives you the willpower to overcome your fears.

A few years ago I was working in the Coast Guard, but it lacked personal congruence; which is mind, body, and spirit enthusiastically moving together. I read a couple of books that set me on a quest. It is a mission that I highly recommend to you. I decided to find what it is that I was meant to do.

Finding my major purpose helped me rid myself of my fear of leaving a stable and comfortable job for an unknown career of writing, speaking, and consulting.

Doing what you love gets you working eagerly and joyfully. It gives you courage and energy. When you have a burning desire to accomplish your dreams and goals - then you will want to overcome your fears and turn them into advantages.

Motivate yourself to "run toward your fears," and soon your fears will be replaced by success and abundance.
